If I like ES IV

ES IV only has a week or so left in it before its time to stop playing it for awhile...

Do you think I will like FO3 if I like ES IV *although like alot of us I still wish they would release ES V*

For people that say "You should wait for FO NV" I don't like playing open world games at launch on the PC... after a year the game will be 10x better with the mods.

I played ES IV and Fallout 3, i loved both and will play fallout 3 till my PC cries for death, I will also play Fallout NV because its set in a different place and time.

Once i learn to mod i can have fun with the games i have.

To answer you though, its really up to you, i think you'll like it, FO3 has alot of similar features except for using guns and bigger creatures.

If you want a real challange though, i suggest playing it on hard/very hard.

I made the transition from Oblivion to FO, and while I still love Oblivion...Fallout sort of has my heart now. The game mechanics and engine are the same, so it's an easy switch. I really think it comes down to if you prefer more fantasy or more scifi. The only drawback is that Oblivion, because it has been around longer, has a much larger modder base/available mods. Fallout has a lot of neat mods and all, but just not the same caliber as Oblivion, although I expect Fallout's mod library will just get better with age (as Oblivion's has). :)

I've always been a fallout fan since I first played the original back in the day.

But I played Oblivion as well, and like it a lot, even if it became GTA at times (go here, talk to him, do that, come back).

One thing Oblivion has over fallout is that in a fantasy setting it is a lot easier to justify some of the crazy crap people come up with. Fallout has to explain everything with "radiation" :D

Yeah, it's open ended like Oblivion and people move around very much the same in each so you will feel right at home there. But the biggest difference that you will find besides magic vs. technology is that the Fallout world is so very depressing. No sunlight wafting down on you from the treetops. No deer scampering away from you through the brush. No crystal clear water to dangle your road weary feet in. In Fallout you have the "Wasteland". And it's not called the Wastes without good reason. Wandering around in this war ravaged world gets to me after a while. I find myself longing for the bright world of Cyrodill where crazy people in uniform have not destroyed the world around us. Please forgive me, I'm ranting now. Let's just say that the world of Fallout is really a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. And there are some very thoughtful mods that can pretty the landscape up quite a bit, although you should really play the game at first like it was intended to get the idea of the land. Not everyone gets as affected by the world as I do and many feel right at home there. I think that you will enjoy it just fine.

I don't really think liking Oblivion has much to do with liking Fallout 3. People who don't like Fallout 3 call it "Oblivion with guns" ... but it's not Oblivion.

It's better. Way better.

Be sure to get Broken Steel (either by itself or as part of Game of the Year edition) and install it before you finish the game.

Why ask people about something that only you can find out? My experience with Fallout 3 may or may not be the same as yours.

The only thing I can tell is:

- In general, I hate post-apocalyptic settings. There are enough depressing things in this world without playing a game based on such an environment.

- That said, despite my better judgment, I grabbed Fallout 3.

- Once I overcame my disgust with the bombed out landscape, I actually enjoyed it. I even recognize it as a great game (one of the best games I've played). I'm going to replay it and it is very likely that I'll grab Fallout 3: New Vegas.

Be open minded and try it. You may be surprised, and in a pleasant way.
