It can't find the textures for that object, check whatever mod it belongs to is installed correctly, also toggle your Archiveinvalidation off and back on again.

The textures are anything from tin cans, medical kits, certains walls, to certain floor tiles. So I imagine these are things added by texture packs which dont run off of esp/esm. As for Archiveinvalidation I've tried different ini settings, turning it on/off in FOMM or using other methods.

If Steam is in your program files then move it, UAC causes all sorts of problems in there https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129

Have Steam verify your game, it won't break any mods. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

If you got texture packs try reinstalling them then toggling archiveinvalidation off and then on again, that said this shouldn't be caused by that, if the replacer texture pack was installed incorrectly (textures in the wrong place) then the game should default to those in the BSA because a replacement isn't present where it should be.

im at 119 mods :\

I installed EWI texture pack, then poco beuno, then NMC just now then re invalidated. Same problem with the same textures.

heres my load order maybe there is a problem mod?

The only thing I can think of is maybe some of the textures are corrupt? Becuase as you said they should be defaulting to vanilla textures if the path is wrong?

I think there is about 20 instances of this in my game, but I have no idea how I can track down the .dds associated with that texture to see if it corrupt. For instance the tiling around the shower in bathrooms has this problem, but how would I know what .dds is controlling it to see if it is corrupt/broken?

Texture packs, lighting changes, etc. can lower your mod limit considerably. I've heard that some people can't run over 100 while some others can run 150+.

Here's a good test. Go to Quarry Junction and if the ground starts changing textures then that's it. Quarry Junction usually goes first, possibly because of the blowing sand effects there.

If it was just a few items from one mod that did it then I'd say that it could be bad texture paths, but what you're describing sounds like a lot of different random items? It's possible but not very likely that so many different items have the wrong texture path. It's more likely that you're running too many mods and you need to eliminate or merge some mods and it will correct the problem.

You can also try backing up your data folder first then run Optimizer Textures: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/46074/

I've found a solution, deleting dds files associated with the problem textures fixes it (reverts them to vanilla textures). I was able to do this for things like tin cans and the medical kit, but i have no idea how I am going to find the dds files for things like floor tiles or walls etc...

So im guessing this is caused by corrupted textures?

It's sounds like you've got one hell of a mess on your hands there, were it me I'd get Steam out of the Program Files (if it's in there) C:\Steam would do and do a clean install, it would probably be quicker than hunting down every texture.

@Dizzasterjuice I've been fighting and experimenting with the mod limit for a few years now and I've found the following...

The game is fine up to hitting the limit where it's goes from fine to this, there is no stage where it starts to go.

The number of textures/files installed makes no difference, my install is now 62GB, 35GB of that is textures, my limit (137) is the same now as it was when the folder was half that size.

The number of BSA's makes no difference.

The number of non active plugins makes no difference.

The number of records a mod adds or changes makes no difference, neither do the number of scripts, proof of this is getting under the limit by merging mods.

In fact the only constant has been my hardware (not GPU) and OS, I'm as confused now as I was when I first started experimenting with it.

It's not a total mess, right now I know of around 15 things in the game world with this problem. For instance the tiling around the shower in one of the bungalos in novac, wall textures in the bathroom at gammorah, etc....

If I could find the dds files associated with those textures in game, and delete them, then they should revert back to vanilla.... which is much better than the swapping bug.
