wolron
I am still learning the basics of this game. I have spent some time in water. In many of the caves, there are pools and underwater caverns that are fun to investigate. I have walked into the water and then walked out of the water. But there was never a time when I had to climb out of those pools. Now I find myself in Vivec. Of course, the sewers are tempting to any adventurer, so I have spent time searching for treasure there. I decided that the water did not look to inviting, so I saved my game before venturing in over my head (there was a barrel or two that I couldn't reach and a dead body that just had to have treasure). I looted the barrels and picked the body clean. Unfortunately, I could not climb out. I tried to jump, but no luck. I tried to ditch all my treasure and armor in hopes of getting either lighter or more agile, but I still could not climb or jump out. I build a tower of stuff in the water and hoped to get on top of it and then just walk out, but I could not accomplish anything. Question: Is there some way to pull yourself out of the water when there is no nice sloping exit area that you can simply walk out of? I suppose I could use the fly spell, but that seems like overkill. It also does not make any sense because in real life, plain old people can climb out of water when they are in a pool. By the way, my acrobat skill is around 30 so that should be good enough for simple movements like this.
ThetaOrionis01
You could use a water walking spell which might facilitate getting out of the water. IIRC, the sewers do have sloping exits somewhere, usually next to one of the little bridges. The stacking objects trick from Ultima IX doesn't work, though - my character has frequently materialized inside stacks of dropped items when using Almsivi intervention... BTW - welcome to Morrowind Source, wolron - nice to see more people from the Wayward Avatar over here.

Peregrine
Yeah, there's a ramp out of it. Look by one of the bridges, along the side of the wall. Its kind of hard to see at first, but its there. If you can't find it, and don't have a levitate spell/charges (even a really small one works well here), then TCL is the only way to do it. Not much of a cheat since its the fault of the game engine (in reality, 99% of those water exits that it blocks you from would be easy to use). DreamOfTheRood
It's really best to have some kind of item enchanted with Levitate and another with Water Breathing while you're in the puzzle canal. It's just much more convenient that way.
Marxist ßastard
Er... You can exit from the grates on either side of the underworks and swim back to land...
wolron
THanks for the answers, but I had already found a way. It turns out that I had an amulet of water walking in my inventory and was not even aware of it!!! I think that means there is just too much junk in there!
