Vista install dead, time for new OS, recomendations?

Recommended Posts

As the title suggests my main computer, The Beast, has killed it's OS. For some reason I honestly connat understand the OS simply crashed, fataly. The boys at the local PC repair shop, and guys who made it (I actualy live right near their factory, it's a beautiful old hangar half an hour's drive down the interstate)

They all concur that nothing is actualy wrong with The Beast, and I booted 'er up with my old install of XP and its running beautifully and quietly as always. But my copy of Vista however is K.I.A.

So now I need a new OS. Im not going to get another Vista, because frankly Vista wasnt compatible with half of itself, let alone my games collection, so I turn to you, strangers on the internet, who I have great respect for however, to help me choose my next OS.

The main choice is 7, 7 LOOKS ideal, but I've never gotten a hands on test and know nothing about it's potential errors. Now, The Beast can't run mac, and I dont have the option of Linux. SO it's down to windows. 7 vs XP. For Gaming.

Windows 7 is excellent, every bit as good as XP was. I can't say I've run into any unsolvable compatibility issues with games, there may be some I'm unaware of but it's all been good so far.

Lets see, your choices for a new OS that can actually play games like Oblivion & FO3 your choices are:

1. Win7

End of list

I have been using Win7 since it first came out and am very happy with it.
