Anyone else hate grinding in games?

I used to not mind grinding in games so much when I was younger, but as I got a little older, I start to hate pointless grinding. Patience isn't the problem, its the monotonous repetitiveness of doing the same thing over and over trying to get a rare drop or something that I just can't stand to do anymore. Its the main reason that I cannot play MMOs, these games revolve around grinding, and get you to dump time in and pay them a monthly fee for doing the same thing over and over again, and I notice some people who play MMOs, are too caught up in what they are doing to even realize they honestly aren't having that much fun playing. I believe the average MMO gamer is just zoned out in front of a PC game, not really enjoying it, but still glued to the screen anyway.

When I played WoW, I hated it when people told me I had to grind to get gear/gold/guildmates (Holy Triumvirate of WoW?), because I was playing the game to have fun. While they zoned out and killed millions of troggs over and over, I was wandering the world and looking for easter eggs and climbing to the top of Ironforge, and finding all the awesome items (Like the Piccolo of Dancing Flames).

Grinding is the annoying part in some games whenever its money or level :/ i have to do enough of that in guild wars even though the level cap is quite low but since it can be minimized so i can chat to people

you know just to make it speed by a little quicker haha

Isn't life pretty-much the same?

Going to work every day is a grind in order to get money. :wallbash:

Having to read Blender tutorial after Blender tutorial is a grind in order to become a proficient modeler. :wallbash:

Having chores around the house is a grind but necessary to keep a functional and livable house / yard. :wallbash:

EDIT: and yeah, it gets old. The older you are, the older it gets.

Indeed, and I prefer to play games to get away from that. Ever read that one Cracked article, "How WoW is worse than real life"?

Yeah I agree, and I think the main reason I play games is to relax and forget about real life, because my life is kinda stressful. But if aspects of the game remind me of real life, etc work, then its just not as enjoyable for me. Working for your livelyhood is a necessity, grinding in a video game is not.

I didn't grind once in DAO, or Oblivion, or at least I didn't feel like I was grinding. And that was kinda refreshing not having to do that.
