The Great Khan Gomorrah Takeover

I like the Khans they are the one group I leave alone, i'll wipe out the Vipers, Jackals, Fiends and Powder Gangers but I always spare the Khans because I like Jack and Diane they are a couple of cool cats. I still have a hard time imagining them becoming the ruling power on the Strip, they would lose so many of their numbers in the siege that they wouldn't be able to hold it for long once the NCR regroups and uses Bear Force One to transport troops onto the Strip after softening the ground targets with bombing runs. Also the King is pretty much the default ruler of Freeside if he wanted to he could rally a formidable resistance against any invading force.

 

And supposing Regis or the courier got the King onside?... No love for the NCR there and a grudge against Mr House to be exploited (did I just say exploited). I don't think the Khans could run the strip, maybe a casino but the whole strip is stretching it. However it's within the realms of possibility that at the head of a coalition that opposes NCR interests they could might be able to destroy it as a going concern and that is leverage.

 

Then there's the Brotherhood who also have issues with the NCR... This isn't a one group takeover this is a mass uprising by all the small groups against the big ones "Deathclaw might get some, but the rest will swarm it, tear it apart, like Denver hounds"

 

This is the mod I'd like to see, the Khans are the best group to coordinate a movement, the most likely group to say screw these big outfits with their 'we know what's good for you' crap.

I would love this mod to pieces. I would also love to have Regis as a companion or even Papa Khan. Or even a scripted death of Papa Khan so I can takeover the reigns and sit at the head of the table with the gavel like Jax Teller first did.

 

The ending for them to become nomadic was pretty cool, but the Mojave should be the start of this plague that sweeps the American wasteland like Genghis Khan's horde. History repeating itself with an organized band of Raiders. Gawd, I love their lore.

This mod is feasible dependent on player preference of course. In an Independent Vegas ending, the Khans could easily get on the Strip by being allied to The Courier. With the Omertas I usually only keep Cachino alive and in my back pocket just so I can squeeze money out of him, ultimately he is a rapist who I want to find an opportune time to kill him, so rolling up in Gomorrah with Regis would be a good way to go about it. Atleast this way, The Courier wouldnt be searched for weapons and have a significantly higher winning threshold than in the other casinos.

 

I also have Run the Lucky 38, so that section of the Strip would be heavily defended by both my own Securitron/Enclave security force and the Khans. I would definately use this mod if it were produced.

Just an idea, sorry to complicate it further, but perhaps it could be a 'Run Gomorrah' mod, where you have the option to delegate to the Khans, as not everyone's character is friendly with them. It also wouldn't make much sense for people who are going to choose the options that see them leave the Mojave.

 

I usually ally with the Khans so I'd be happy either way, just think it would have a broader appeal if they weren't essential to the mod.

 

I was trying to think of other factions that could work, but for a place like Gomorrah, the Khans are the only ones that make sense to me.

 

It would be cool if it added more drug running missions too, but with larger amounts and bigger rewards. It would make sense for them to expand their business what with being a more influential group, and obviously the courier would get a big slice because he helped them out.

Sorry to deliver some harsh truths here, but apart from the entertainment of speculation I think this mod is unlikely to be made. To get the Khans into Gomorrah 'plausibly' will probably mean changing the games sub-plots and re-writing entire fractions behaviour, which has been done well how many times? There is a 200 page thread around here somewhere discussing how to do that to make the game continue after the end battle. 200 hundred pages and they still haven't worked out how to go about it!

 

It may be possible to do something simple like put a 'secret' tunnel to the Gomorrah basement, spawn a bunch of generic Khans to invade the casino then just write over the Omertas... Maybe... But no NPCs in the game would acknowledge the event. As far as the story goes it wouldn't have happened unless you could make wide ranging changes to the plot.

 

 

 

And there is a separate issue, BadHeartSnake refers to history repeating it's self above. Know what happens to barbarian nomads who win? Who overcome and take control of rich, settled societies, inserting themselves at the top of the heap? They cease to be barbarian nomads, they are usually seduced and corrupted by soft living and the trappings of power. Defeat is harsh but there is a barbarian sentiment - expression that goes 'what doesn't kill you makes you strong' and victory can be even more unpleasant if your culture regards the daily struggle to survive as virtuous.

 

Papa Khan as some fat degenerate pimp... you'd wish that on your friends?...
