I am a little confused and scared in the same time so before I move on with things here like I usualy do, I just feel I should get this out of the way. In the past some of my friends saw me playing Oblivion and they liked it. Many didn't have internet acces at that time and they came to my place to get mods from Nexus. Some wanted to have their own accounts, some didn't. Here's where my "problem" starts. They made new accounts from my PC/laptop(I don't remember from which exactly, mayby both. I don't have my old PC anymore anyway.) Time passed, they moved on to other games and I completly forgot about this. I know one still plays Oblivion and mayby Morrowind, but very rare as far as I know. If I remember correctly his nickname is satanboy or something like that. He is also one of my best friends so we visit each other quite often. So when I go to his place and I want to show him a nice new mod I log in from his place and when he comes to my place he sometimes log in from here. I never used his account and he never used mine becouse knowing your policy I never told my password to anyone and so did he. So have I done something wrong making other accounts from my PC/laptop? Know that I only use this one and never, ever used another account but this. The first one I made back in August 2006 was removed by Lhammonds at my request becouse I had some problems with it and never used it. The reason why I am making this topic is becouse I noticed people are getting banned for having multiple accounts(tyreil829) and I honestly don't want that. This is one of the few internet places I've enjoyed spending my time over the years and I don't want to end up bad here. Many thanks for your understanding,Pushkatu! HugePinball Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 I'm sure a staff member will confirm this for you, but it's multiple accounts per person that's an issue, not multiple accounts per computer. The reason is to prevent potential sockpuppetry and file ratings abuse by a single person. While the site may keep a record of the IP address an account used to connect, that by itself doesn't identify a single user. IP addresses can change, or be shared by many people connecting behind a firewall or larger network (a multi-PC home, internet cafe, school, business, etc.), and two or more people in a one computer household could very well be using their own separate accounts on the same machine. LHammonds Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Not a problem. As HugePinball has explained, it is no problem if one person has one account. However, you need to be aware that if your friends mess up and get their account banned bad enough that we issue an IP ban as well, that could block your access as well. Just make sure your friends are trustworthy when they connect to this site using your net connection. And regarding Ty, he just wanted a new account so I had to lock his other according to the rule noted.
