Modeling Software

When I manage to fix my PC I plan to start doing some modding for Fallout, but I would also like to make some custom models. Any 3D modeling software i've used is either too simple or incompatible with Fallout 3. After scouting around for info, it seems that their are different things to use, so i'll write what I know:

- I see alot about NifSkope and NifTools, which I saw was used for converting models into game models.

- Blender?

- There was somthing else I saw called Maya or somthing similar.

Please help me figure out what to use.

I hate to sound green, but I am relatively new to this, so all help will be appriciated!

I do have a good understanding of the computer in general so i will learn pretty fast.

Thank You.

I'd recommend something from the Autodesk suite (Maya, 3rd Max or Mudbox) for modeling. The included tutorials are immensely useful and straight forward. It's what I use to model my custom weapons. However, I don't model for Fo3, so I'm not ennnntirely sure of compatibilty with it.

mudbox won't be helpfull on it's own.. you need a full modelling suite. blender, max or if you prefer, maya. Maya has the weakest nif exporter though, it won't even export F3 nifs straight to game. Max and blender can though

nifskope is a nif block viewer/editor. it is indispensable for editing nif files, and getting them working in various games.
