Prenihility
Whats the fastest way to go through the main quest? As i want to start another character, and i like having the main quest completed so all Oblivion gates are sealed, and everything is the way it should be. Thats the only way i can go about doing everything else. The main quest is always my first priority. What do you suggest?
SwiftDeathSK
You could just do what I've been doing and not even do the main quest until you are ready for it. The gates dont start opening until Kvatch in the quest line, so it's preventable in the first place :)
ub3rman123
Fastest way: It might be slightly buggy to use, but it works. If you look at the end of the video you'll see where to go. Enter the temple district, and use TCL to go under the temple. Look for a door sticking out of the ground. Go through it, and complete the last part of the main quest. (I think the waiting a day thing in there is to give Martin time to run all the way there from Kvatch or wherever he is) You could just use a setstage command, but that might be even more buggy. ElricOfGrans
I cannot remember the name, but there is a mod that completed the quest if you do not want to do it at all. I would imagine it should be easy to find with a little searching on the Nexus. I understand it runs through all the quest elements ensuring all things are tied up nicely (without the bugs insinuated by the console method). Trigoras
The video of the speedrun is probably the fastest way to do things on the console, I would say the fastest way on the computer version (without mods) would be going to the temple of the one and using the console command "Tcl" and walk through the wall of the temple, you should see the door halfway through the ground, and from there follow what the video has done. If you count mods there are plenty that delay the quest, or finish it for you. Personally I use a mod to prevent and random gates from spawning, keeping the enviroment intact, and use my own mod that I'm still working on to fix up the main-quest gates. If you want links to anything I'll post them, but they're all here on TESNexus, they should be easy to find.
