Stryfe23
Bethesda Softworks has revealed that the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas will require activation on Steam. As part of a Q&A series on the Bethsoft forums between Fallout fans and the New Vegas team at Obsidian and Bethesda, Senior Producer Jason Bergman revealed that the PC version of the upcoming RPG will require Steam activation. "Fallout: New Vegas uses Steamworks for achievements and other features (such as friends lists, cloud storage of user preferences and so on)," he said. "Use of Steam will be mandatory at retail." -Quoted Article--Bethesda Forum Q&A- Whatever happened to people having the control over what programs they want to run on their own PCs? Not to mention, there will be absolutely no resale value on STEAM games, but that's probably intentional.
mongoose56
Just wondering, but whats with everyone's hate for Steam? I pretty new to PC gaming in general, but I was looking over their site and it doesn't seem that bad, or as controlling as other forms of DRM (considering other forms of physical disk DRMs). I wish there were no DRM just as much as the next person but Steam seems like a step up from all those limited install DRMs and what not.
XSoldier
This is old news. There's no point bringing it up again. Anyone that hates steam most likely hasn't ever used it before and have extremely misguided opinions about it. I have friends that use it, and they don't complain whatsoever. Thor.
The always on thing kind of bothers me, then again you can always installed games on other systems really easy.
katashy
it'll be fine. Using Steam doesn't interfere with mods, and if a FOSE kind of thing is created for it, you don't need steam. Or at least, that's what happened with FO3.
evilneko
There was enough discussion of this in the later pages of the old thread http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/181385-fallout-new-vegas-info/ ...and probably some in the stickied thread on the Fallout 3 forum too. Vindekarr
Aye, I'm not going to bother anymore. This is an example of what happens when executives and bankers make games: endless rubbish sequals, no help and support service, and the community almost deliberately ransacked-just like Fallout! evilneko
 The sky ain't fallin, the world ain't endin, Steam is fine and no reason to avoid New Vegas. Direct2Drive is a different matter: no FOSE with D2D! Think how painful a hit that'd be to modders!
