Fallout: New Vegas uses STEAM, but why...?

8GB or larger removable storage + After Fallout C = Fallout that you can take with you. Just don't try to run it off the external.

& a 64 gb drive can sure hold a lot.

@Shaein, I agree, if Steam was optional, maybe with a "Steam access" key for the disc version to get the added features I wouldn't have a problem with it, but as it stands I don't know if I should even try getting the game.

Since Steam won't even have to be running unless you use the launcher (and who uses that except for the first time playing?), I don't see any reason to skip FO:NV because of Steam.

What about the people with slow internet?

Why should slow internet get in the way of a game that is going to be single player anyway.

Steam will literally be a waste of time and maybe not even an option for some.

It's just an inconvenience for people who genuinly buy the game.

Those who pirate it will get away with this without a scratch.

And that is completely unfair for those of us who don't pirate it.

But it's not like we're actually given a choice in the matter is it.

So no point moaning about it and no point trying to defend something that most people don't actually want but are forced to use just to play a damn game.

For those of you with fast internet, are lucky enough to have no problems and don't care about other peoples problems will obviously welcome Steam with New Vegas.

So now I'm stuck between...

Going with steam and waiting forever for my game and potentially a lot of problems too

-OR-

Buying it on console and not having the ability to mod and possibly playing a broken game like my console versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 GOTY edition.

As I love modding and am not risking paying a lot of money for a console game that will most likely be ignored and crash all the time.

It's clear that I have NO OTHER OPTION but to get steam.

To me.. That is not fair. I don't want steam. I completely disagree with it.

Ooooh btw... 1 month today until New Vegas for us Europeans! =D

Actually for those with slow internet speeds there is a way to get the game installed with out steam Downloading the whole thing. First install all the way up to steam and update, then stop the installation of the game. Power down your router/modem then run the disk again, it should see steam installed but not active connection, so it should upload from the disk to steam, that is if the Disk has the files. Once the game is installed if steam is running currently in Offline mode close it out and power the router/modem back up run steam again online this time and update the game. Now you should have the game read to go in short order. Note this will Not work if there is no installation files on the disk besides steam itself, happened with L4D on me at least.

Lets not forget neko, that steam takes about half an hour just to turn on for some people, because of updates that no one wants or needs, then takes another hour to configure the installer before the install starts, then another 1-2 hours to just install the damn thing, then an ungodly amount of time to download a game update.

I really cant see how it's so popular

Neither can I CommanderCrazy

I seriously do see more people complaining about it than actually praising it.

And before you even post Neko...

WE GET IT

Your a fan of them and enjoy them and maybe haven't had an issue with them.

If your hoping for a t-shirt off Valve saying "I <3 Steam"... good luck with that =)

-However-

Most of the other people who have replied here don't like it and have had issues with Steam.

No one is saying "h8 steam it sukz" they are posting the fact that they don't like it because they have had problems with it and so actually really don't want to see this game on steam.

And before you state the obvious (yet again)... yes, we know we don't have any choice.

No I'm not. And you are.

I don't see why people are making a big deal out of it, because in the case of New Vegas, it's not. It'd be a bigger deal if Steam had to be running, but since that is not the case it's merely a minor one-time annoyance.

Because to other people it is a big deal.

Nobody is forcing you to reply to this thread (If they are at gunpoint then I apologise)

If it's no big deal for you... then that's you.

Unfortuntely, not everyone is like you.
