synnworld
OK, this is something I never bothered witch because only one mod tops, that I've messed with required it. So I ask you all... What exactly is gained from making skills go over 100? I mean besides the fact some mods require it? Only thing that I can personally think of is it continues to help one level without needing to level skills that doesn't fit your character play style/roleplaying. My problem with this is, the legendary system, now allows you to do the exact same thing, at the cost of gimping your character at higher levels (maybe, I still haven't messed around with it, I might try it though.) So what are some of the pros for uncapping skills?
HeyYou
Legendary knocks you skill back down to 15. With the requisite loss in abilities there as well. Basically, that just enables you to level indefinitely. The Community Skill Cap Remover, raises the skill caps, so your skill keeps progressing, you continue to get better, and the equations used by the game can reflect that. It is amazingly configurable for leveling speed, and skill/equation caps. (you can cap the equation at a lower number than the skill itself, as, for some skills, start getting into higher numbers (north of 300 or so), and strange things can happen.....) Used in conjunction with a perk mod, that gives you perks over the 100 skill value, gives you a bit more motivation to continue developing your skills. Of course, you can get incredibly powerful at higher levels....
synnworld
so your skill keeps progressing, you continue to get better,This is where I'm lost, exactly how do some skills get better? For example, destruction magic (since that's my main characters primary ability.) I was under the assumption, that vanilla destruction magic didn't scale with the leveling of the skill. You know what, I'm actually going to just look up the formula now.
HeyYou
Casting cost keeps going down though. (I think.)
synnworld
Casting cost keeps going down though. (I think.)I just did a quick glance at both destruction and leveling wiki, increasing it, doesn't increase the danage, just the casting, which is already relatively low for me now as it is. BlackRampage
A mod like Uncapped Perks is as good as essential when using a skill level uncapper mod. And imho it also makes more sense then making a skill "legendary".

saurusmaximus
Basically, uncapping allows your character to get stronger than it would have. Melee skills like one-handed and blocking keep getting stronger as the number goes up. For magic, the cost to cast a spell goes down so you could get to a point where, theoretically, you could cast expert-level spells almost continuously without running out of magicka. Essentially, you can end-up with a really bad-ass player for your end game. The downside to this, as I once discovered, is that it's possible to make your pc so OP that it really isn't any fun to play anymore; my one play-through, my pc was at level 105, my one-handed was around 140, and my smithing skill, with all the enchanted armor I had collected/made for that purpose, ended up around 400. So I was able to make a dagger that did like 10,200 damage. So I could kill anything with one swipe. Which was fun for about 5 minutes, then I decided it was time for a new character. fraquar
What is gained is twofold: a) Wow factor, when you post a screenshot of your character with the number 10 under his Two-Handed skill.b) The game caps you at level 81, and that is with every skill maxed out. With Legendary, you can completely ignore those skills that don't fit your build and still be able to get to level 81 (or beyond). You just continually keep rolling over the primary skills that your build is centered on. Now, I take this one step further because the game forces you to get XP with things like Lockpicking and Speech, and I us Skyrim Community Uncapper to make those skills give 0 XP towards my character level - my character shouldn't be leveling up 5 levels because he sells items all game long.
