I got the sense the first box of pictures had a theme, and then I had a desire to move them around like a child trying to put a jigs saw puzzle together. The knee jerk effect of realizing suddenly that I was trying the idea, but your groups of pictures would not allow it, caused me to feel frustrated. I broke off from the emotion and slowly scrolled through one, paused, than another. I noted the first image in each that immediately grabbed my attention and tried to get a sense of any connecting with the rest of the pictures on each board. Then sexual desire overwhelmed me so I had to skip ahead to the next board and its similarities. Like before, each had something that got my focus and I started with the first image that grabbed my minds eyes. It was fun remembering many of the faces, but I kept getting the feeling they belonged in a different order, so one was central so their arrangement than would draw the attention in from the outer edge to somewhere stabilizing my attention. Maybe through a spiraling screen which started an onlooker at which ever picture caught the eye of the beholder, but always caused them to be reeled in from their minds eyes to see and feel like being on stable ground focused on a central theme. Since I kept feeling like I was either falling off the side and getting too excited by one or the other views a few lost my attention quickly, and I moved to the next billboard quickly to avoid any pictures that were sensually pointless. The only draw on a couple billboards you set up would have been to go around them immediately into theater showing three straight days of Star Trek movies, or around them into a porno shop. Only I did not feel like there was a safe path going out and around their edges. I felt more like I was going fall off an edge and go downward affording me no sense of reassurance that I wasn't just going to fall forever. As an example, "I Dream of Genie" popped into my thought, but no relation to the rest of the pictures in that group brought anything to mind to substantiated her head shot being there. When I saw that womans face, who played the genie, in her regular day style makeup and hair style it made me think you were making the boxed selection's, for home pictures, instead of for her famous part. In that case it was a style only the immediate family would understand. None of them brought home any structured memories from my mind so it was like having viewed a collection in someone's top drawer opened up on their desk and seeing all the pictures jumbled together. Nice collection of pictures, for me though, I had a hope of being lead by a hand along memory lane when you started the post. My Bad. Very colorful, sensually delightful a couple of times, and clearly an art form which you see more meaning in than I could. Just now, I imagined myself leaning forward with my forehead pressed against the desktop staring at all the pictures with wide open eyes and pupils in one of those moments when I suddenly realized I had just awakened, seeing all those pictures because the wide desktop drawer was out all the way, me slipping off the edge, and me falling like limp sack of flour onto the floor. Maharg67 Posted January 11, 2011 Author Share Posted January 11, 2011 Pagafyr, firstly I use these montages as 'idea generators' by looking at the patterns I have formed and trying to create ideas from them. Secondly, these montages are part of a bigger screen saver that randomly flashes the montages and pictures onto the screen so the individual works are often seen by myself as part of a bigger process. Thirdly, they are just for fun because I love pictures, have always loved pictures and any excuse to work with pictures will do. Note that the title for this topic is MONTAGES AND MORE FOR FUN.
