"With Friends Like These" Help please!

Ok, here is my dilemma, I have talked to the innkeepers to pick the "Innocence Lost" quest, and killed Grelod the Kind, and returned to Aventus Aretino. I waited a while and travelled to Solitude, and got the Mysterious Note from the courier and read it, after that I rented me a room in the Winking Skeever, and slept for a hour and awoke in the Abandoned Shack. I then talked to Astrid and told her I would kill one of the hostages, I then killed Vasha the Khajiit. Though after I killed Vasha it wouldnt let me talk to Astrid again, she would only say "sister" or "need something?" It wouldnt let me ask the hostages anything. Well so I then went into the console and tried a few commands to fix the problem, here is the commands I tried:

 

"Stopquest DarkBrotherhood", then tried "Resetquest DarkBrotherhood"

 

"Startquest DB02"

"Resetquest DB02"

 

"SetStage DB02 10"

"SetStage DB02 30"

"SetStage DB02 40"

"SetStage DB02 50"

 

I have also tried doing a different save, and trying those commands, and still nothing

You will have to redone the quest.

I am having the same problem. I have tried reinstalling the game even, disabling all mods etc. Started new games, issue persists. Does anyone have a patch for this problem?

 

None of the potential victims engage in the proper dialogue. They just act like random NPC's, saying stuff like "need something" etc. They will not engage in the interrogation dialogue menu where I can ask about their crimes. After killing one, two, or all three Astrid will not engage in her proper dialogue. She just says "brother".

 

I cannot use the console to advance the quest. This is proper broken for some reason, I can't believe there is no patch for this problem.

Maybe click on Astrin (in the console) and type resetai and do that to the 3 npcs. It should work if not im sorry.

Follow this guide :

• Reload a save from before she told you to kill one of the captives. It would be safer to reload a save from before you have the note to be sure...
• Once you've loaded the save, open the console and type stopquest DarkBrotherhood and hit enter, then type resetquest DarkBrotherhood and hit enter.
• try to obtain the note to start the quest again.

Have already tried the above, doesn't work. I have tried with multiple characters at varying points of the story. I have always started them fresh, before innocence lost in each attempt I still run into the same problem. Have even done a clean install with playing this story arch in mind, no luck. Thanks for the responses, but there just seems to be something fundamentally broken with the quest line. There may be a mod conflict I don't know about, but I can't imagine what would cause this particular problem and I had the same problem with all mods removed, deactivated, or not installed after clean install.

 

I need some kind of patch to make this work...I have all the latest patches for Skyrim as a whole. I've no idea what's wrong with it. It's the only glitch of this type I have ever run into.

• Do you use USLEEP ? This up to date unofficial patch corrects thousand of bugs. If you have the old separate unofficial patches, uninstall them.
• Have you tried to untick ALL your mods except (USLEEP and LAL) and tested in game if it worked ?
• You may use the console commands :

• setstage DB02 10 is for starting the quest,
• player.moveto 0001BDE8 to move directly with your inventory in the shack
• Play the quest and kill the hostages then use the setstage command, see here, scrolll down on the page to see the stages
• If the foor is locked : player.additem 0002E3F8 1

• You may try to install some mods that uses the DB quest, hoping it will force the quest to work, (not sure about that but hey) like The Dark Brotherhood Resurrection
• Go in a church and pray
• If it worked, please consider marrying my daughter, since 33 years I try to find her an husband with no success.

I'm having a similar issue to this - I've tried disabling all mods (including Dawnguard and Dragonborn), but when I sleep and wake up in the Abandoned Shack, Astrid never starts talking and I can't move. Any ideas as to what I can do?

 

Edit - Never mind. Used the console to add the key to my inventory, entered manually, killed someone, and the script moved on. Not going to delete this reply, though, just in case someone else has a similar problem in the future.
