gunslinger6792
I tried posting this in the in mod trouble shooting though I've yet to receive any posts. I should also note that since first posting this I can run fraps to take bitmap pictures and those can be converted to jpegs. As for my problem i should first state that I have SKSE installed and when I launch the game via the skse launcher the only way for me to take pictures is using printscreen. The problem with this method is it puts the pictures in a bmp format which I can't open. Any attempt to do so results in a message saying its not a valid bitmap format or the feature is unsupported. I've tried opening the pictures in paint again to no avail. This has lead me to try playing the game via steam and taking pictures using the F12 key. Doing this however doesn't work and I'm unable to access the steam overlay or pop menu. This also holds true when I play the game through the skse launcher. Does anyone know how to fix this because I'm currently working on a mod and its kinda hard to publish it if I can't take any pictures. I should also note that I'm playing the game using windows 8.

gunslinger6792
I followed your direction and it still doesn't work. I doubled checked to see if I could access the steam overlay in other games I have and it works for those games just not skyrim.
ArronDominion
Have you tried placing SKSE exe in Steam (believe it is the add non-steam game button, typically in the bottom left on the Steam UI)?
Elianora
This might be a silly question but you are launching Skyrim SKSE through the STEAM loader, not the normal loader? (skse_steam_loader.dll)
gunslinger6792
I've been launching skyrim SKSE through the NMM under the skse tab.
gunslinger6792
Problem Solved after further sluthing on my end I discovered that my virus software was preventing the steam overlay from working for games like skyrim but not other games. Go figure :wallbash: Anyway thanks to everyone for their help.
