Seriously, some aren't even making sense. I don't doubt that there are some out there who because of location, can't get connected, or internet is too expensive. But i just don't see everyone of those people running to thier nearest starbucks and pop out thier laptop to whine about it on these forums. Last night, from a hotel room, I tried to play without hooking up to the hotel's wireless and it sat at an "Updating Steam ..." window for about 10-15 minutes until I gave up and linked to the wireless and it took off right away. Anyone doing the torrent thing usually knows what they have to do etc. If not those things come with instructions also. Also, lets say they do DL the torrent and still can't install it due to steam. They really aren't out anything. So why come here and ask. I think more a case of some folks and I know some who are in remote areas and still on dial up or such. there are areas in upstate NY where I used to live that cable still will not service. Some of them do dial up, others do sattelite but even then they are only given X amount of time/bandwidth per month. At least thats what they told me when I asked them why they are not always around on FB and such. I have by monthly cap, some people have daily and this game will exceed their daily cap (so some have said here so I don't know about this daily cap business) To the OP, yes for initial install you need to have internet access, says so on the box, mind you it should have a bigger warning sign then a small warning that would fit onto your baby pinky, and second you can play offline no problem, I remove my usb cable to disconnect and I launch after. You need to create a STEAM account as well. After New Vegas I will not support any other game that involves this type of strong arm tactics like STEAM, period.
