Crash while loading save. *Story spoilers!*

I've been roaming the forum looking for similiar things and fixes about this "Corrupted save" though I did found some, not exactly the same.

Basicly it just crashed while loading the save, while others seem to be still able to actually be in the game for a small moment, my game crashes directly when started to load. Autosave, quicksave and my regular save all didn't work.

I do got another save, but that's just from the beginning to skip the basic parts in case I was to start over again.

The story: I've just started the quest of the Brotherhood of Steel about going around vaults for parts to fix the air ventilation I've started with Vault 3, where I already have killed everyone before the quest just to explore, saved the prisoners and all that except the mechanical floor. So I was going 'round and killed those Fiends and their chieftan, grabbed the part and went out.

Killed some more Fiends, and just outside walking north, I see an burning barrel with 3 Fiends around it. I quicksave, shot 2 and my game crashes. ( It does a lot, though it is not a big deal since I quick save a lot. )

Here the problem starts. I start up NV again, try to load all the three saves without any succes of loading the game without crashing during the loading.

I tried restarting, back saves etc. without any succes.

Details: I still had to decide the fate of Mr.House, since the NCR noticed he was spying on both Legion and NCR, after I had activated his powerful army, and gave him the platinum chip.

My standing with the NCR was accepted, was hatred with the normal gangs and Ceasar's Legion + Freeside, since the quest for NCR told me to kill a man of the local gang, The Kings.

I kindof slaughtered them all, and NCR and Freeside were both disappointed.

The Boomers vowed for me, killed everyone at The Tops and did most of the NCR quests along the river border.

Point Charlie was slaughtered due to talking to the ranger in Primms, which left my quest to update the radio codes unable to finish.

And a lot of other things such as wearing armor, weapons etc karma etc which I am unable to name.

I hope that's enough information.

It doesn't sound like a bad save because none of them work, if it isn't and you can't even get the game loaded then I don't know what to suggest. To be sure you could try loading a back up save. Look in My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Saves In there you'll see a file called Autosave.fos.bak. Find Autosave.fos, move it to another place and rename the Autosave.fos.bak to Autosave.fos. Then try loading the Autosave in game. Your options are severely limited if the thing won't load at all.

Oh well, thanks for trying though.

I also have the same problem. If i die, it crashes when trying to load and i can no longer load my saves. It sucks so bad because, i've tried making multiple saves so the risk of wasted time is less, but even those saves dont load. I thought the latest update was supposed to fix the save issues?

i had several saves go bad about 10 hours worth, but lest i had saves back from 30 hours into the game that would load.

the ghoul rocket quest is known to bug saves out and make the game crash, but mine happened well beyond that quest by about 10 or 15 hours, so i was never able to track down what exactly caused my several saves to go bad.

one symptom i noticed was the game getting choppy, got really apparent when i exited westside vegas thought i had a memory leak or something going on and exited the game and then my saves would not load crashed the game just trying to load the saves tried one and two saves back same deal, disabled all mods repeated the process then i kept going back till i found a save that loaded and then started activating mods and knock on wood not had any problems after i went back and loaded the saves that worked, got a save not 60+ hours into the game after that and did most every quest in game visited all the placed i had visited before the corruption and no more issues.

only advice i can give is create a bunch of manual saves, and hope you do not encounter the thing that starts to make them go bad and if you have a bunch your likley to have a few good ones remaining that will load.

reminds me of the autosave bugs from fo3 where they would just go belly up randomly to the point that people were told to disable autosaves entirely and manual save the game to avoid the bug.

The thing is that my manual save, which was just in between the quick save and the auto save, had also gone bad.

Thus my 3 saves all went bad at the exactly location not 3 minutes after leaving Vault 3.

sorry but your probably boned :( if none of them will load.

only thing i could usggest is uploading the earliest bad save to bethesda tech support with exaclty what you were doing at and around the time that save went bad and how long you had been playing.

i was miffed when i lost 10 hours of my 40 hour game sucks when it happens and you been solving quests opening new locations and getitng gear and loot. if you got no good saves left your more than likley going to have to start over :(.
