Minor gripes

1> Invisible walls: They existed in F3, but they seem to be worse in New Vegas. There's nothing more annoying to an explorer than figuring out a way to get to an upper ledge, just to be stifled by an invisible wall. As Gene Autry sang, "Don't fence me in!"

2> #2 weapon key lost to ammo swap. Even if one reassigns ammo swap to another key, the #2 key cannot be used as a weapon slot. There supposedly are twice as many weapons in NV than F3, so what were the designers thinking???

3> The Strip is too small compared to how it was hyped in the advertising leading up the the release of the game. I was expecting a city, or at least a larger part of one - not the 6 or 7 buildings that are actually there.

The abilities to mod weapons, make ammo and items, and faction gameplay are all nice additions, but quite frankly, they can easily be ignored. I'm playing in hardcore mode, and I'm able to progress quite nicely just by using what I find while questing and selling the rest.

Sure hope Fallout 4 gets a major overhaul.

It's kind of cool figuring out where the invisible walls are, though. I kind of feel like the game should have had parachutes. My character has broken legs a lot over near Jacobstown.

I think the designers were aiming at the Xbox way of playing, which means you're pretty limited in most aspects of control. I have to agree, though. For PC, wasting a key is a pain.

Well, we're still stuck with Gamebryo, so take it up with the idiot who decided to keep that ancient, obsolete, bug-filled "game engine." I think they've done a really fine job pushing that horrible engine to the limits of its capabilities.

The only thing this game is lacking is a good engine. Given that it could have been great, but it's merely above mediocre as it is.

There is already a mod trying to remove those barriers.

I spent nearly an hour trying to get up on a ledge above a group of big radscorpions so I could knock them off without being mobbed. Every route I tried had am invisible wall. Now that I have the mod I'm going back to see if my idea works.

I agree with all your gripes.

1) If you're placing invisible walls, you're doing it wrong. Place an actual visible wall there so I I'm not going to try to proceed that way.

2) They ought to let us configure where we want ammo swap, if anywhere at all.

3) If you're going to make The Strip tiny, don't show flyover footage of actual Vegas and tell everyone how amazing and massive The Strip is. That's just a blatant lie. The Strip is tiny in this game, even if it's based on the 1950s Vegas. Also, why are there divider walls that cut The Strip into sections? That makes it seem even smaller.

4) I never modded a single weapon or made ammo. I had no need to and was never told to.

My gripe

The lackluster New Vegas Radio. Say what you want but i loved how the radio followed you through the game...well here i am at the end of the game nd he is talking about a dynamite tossing gold guy from goodsprings still....they butchered the radio

well beth did take soul ownership of ids new engine the new fo or whatever should be 10x better since id has a history of giving you great engines that are infinately moddable without as many stability issues. and the fact the carmack got rage to run on a damn iphone and it looked and ran great speaks volumes of what that engine should look like and run on a full blown computer.

so gamebro engine is probably reaching its very last throws of usage.

I agree, another thing is that the map seems so big, yet so much is blocked off. The western side of the map is about the size of all of New Vegas and yet there is nothing there at all. Seems like such a waste of space.

I came back to state the same thing, but you beat me to it. There is definitely video on Youtube where game designers state that FV is geographically the same size as F3, so that's another lie.

By the way, DO NOT reassign the ammo swap key, unless you never want to use the #2 key again. I tried to configure it back and got a message that the key could not be mapped. How did that get past the bug checkers?

Well regarding the ammo change button... I'd say it's ridiculous all together how few hotkeys the game lets you have. Even if it is a multi-platform game, I should be able to jump between menus more conveniently than this in the PC version. That should be the most basic gameplay adjustment when porting to a PC...
