Mr Lepidus
Did you notice that the Legion has very ornately minted coins with fine inscriptions in them? This fact means that Caesar must have machine shops with electric power somewhere in his Empire. This also means that the Legion could also be able to make cleaner and more authentic armor for their soldiers, right? For some reason, it bothers me that the Legionaries wear such cobbled-together-looking armor, despite that they must have the resources to make much better suits. After all, the real army after which they model themselves was the most organized of its time, and the first to regulate its soldiers' uniforms and weapons... Anyways, I was hoping somebody could maybe start to mod cooler-looking Roman armor into the game, with actual Lorica Segmentata, chain main, and the like. Here are some reference pictures, if anybody is interested. EDIT: Scutum available: http://www.newvegasn...le.php?id=37664 Check out Moraelin's weapon mods, too for extra Roman goodness! Perhaps if the armor was 'dirtied up' a bit to make the Legion soldiers look more seasoned (once again, actual Roman soldiers looked rather rugged and dirty on the trail, too). For further inspiration, I suggest watching the first twenty minutes or so of Gladiator less for the actual armor specifications, and more for the gritty, dirty look of the soldiers. I am not sure whether or not this is too much to ask, but I think it would be incredible to see these suits of armor in game. If anybody is feeling adventurous enough to attempt this project, please let me know, and I'll help in whatever way I can.
UttaNutta
That would ruin the wasteland part of it. It's not hard to stamp a coin. A suit of armor, now that's different.

Compared to ancient times, the wasteland is a paradise. +1 for new armor
UttaNutta
Still, it would just be weird.
I337iB3
I'm for the idea, I dislike the football padded soldier's. I believe it's plausible due to the technology available and materials to fashion left over metal into armor.
magnanimousmudd
I say this is a good idea too. It doesnt have to look brand new, maybe even look like it was thrown together using scrap metals, but still..More Authentic looking roman armor would be nice, rather than using sports gear. Mr Lepidus
Is this plausible then? By the way, what I had in mind wasn't shiny, new armor, but rather worn-looking metal armor.
newjay
Yeah the legion's armor was kind of disappointing. Rugged and dirty would also add to the feel of battle hardend soldiers.

The clothing has a rough feel to it, as does the armor, while still being more professional-looking.
Starch
So, you want the armor at the height of the roman empire. Here some pictures of armor the early and late roman army's armor: http://www.clifton3d.com/images/Roman_weapons_armor.jpg http://www.roman-empire.net/army/pics/early-legionary.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Nephtys/Romans/Poor_Hastatus_200_BC.jpg http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/pompeii/excavations/gallery/excavate2_300x350.jpg Late: http://warandgame.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/lateromanarm1.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv328/Hadenator/Musketeer.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KezhQ6waZT0/SC8EG0-R8wI/AAAAAAAAELo/HpQAkbMbLNg/s320/LATEromartf3.jpg
