gsmanners
It ain't exactly a lemon, but this is a product that uses Gamebryo. If I can get it to run for more than an hour without freezing or crashing or rainbows or pop-ups (or any of a dozen other problems) I consider it a miracle. Yes, it has a lot of bugs, but they are mostly bugs that we can fix here. I feel bad for all the Xbox and PS3 gamers, though.
revelationjp
Really folks, you'd think it was the first time anyone played a computer game. Issues exactly like this have been going on as long as computer geeks like me have been playing games. The first time i bought Myst, i spent 3 days tweaking my system to get it to run. See for yourself, check the forums of any major release game, and you'll see threads exactly like this one. "this is the buggiest game ever" has been claimed on just about every big game. At some point, you have to realize that the PC platform is simply not a plug and play setup. every system is different, and many "bugs" are really issues with the game conflicting with how you're set up.I'm familiar with Gambryo, and knew it had issues with windows registry, so i spent the day prior to geting NV doing a clean install. NV started right up, and has given me no (major) problems aside from the usual stuff. A PC is like a car, if you don't keep it clean, updated, and do appropraite maintainence, it's gonna do strange and wierd things.

ruserious
Well i bought the game brand new, not one week ago, and to get it too work i have had to reinstall my entire OS, just to get it to work. With this in mind, is it too much to ask of the developers that they ensure that there game will work when people buy it, and to the publishers, please gives the devs enough time to thouroughly check games before they go to sale, i mean christ, we pay $90au for these and they dont work, we have to wait weeks, or months for a patch to come out so we can play the game, and even then, the patch might not solve your particular issue. If anyone from bethesda or obsidian is reading this, take heed, people are not happy about the amount of bugs in this game I'm at the point where you have to talk to the ranger in charge of the NCRs security for the presidents visit, however just as he tells me to get some rest for the mission, the screen fades to black, then crashes. This has happened both playing AS Mr House and the NCR, and to make matters worse, 2 days ago i reinstalled my ENTIRE OS from scratch, all the updates are done, all the drivers are the latest, and new vegas is the only game i have installed. what the f*** IS WRONG WITH IT!!!???!?!?!. When i buy a game, i expect it to work. I have discovered that bug afftects me everytime i sleep, wait or the quest dose it for me. I am amazed that we don't have 50 topics of "WTF why is this so buggy Fallout 3 wasn't buggy when it launched WTF obsidian"
ruserious
I'm with you, if it's not ready to go, then push the release back until it is... I see others trying to the typical excuse argument that this is just the way its always been and will always be, and for those people I hope it continues. We the consumer can do something about it and complaining to the right people is one thing, better is to tell all your friends as soon as possible that the game is buggier than an entomologists nightmare and not to buy it. No matter where you live, money talks and B.S. walks.. As long as the profits are good, this ( and all other) industries won't change. I'll bet that most people here are too young to remember the Coca-Cola protests. The American public "en mass" said "We're not gonna take this "New Coke" and didn't buy it, publicly putting it down, causing a stir in the entire country, but more importantly with the Coca-Cola Corp. The "new" formula stayed around for a while but it faded away because the sales weren't high enough and the bad publicity was hurting the price of their stock! Those that would tell you that we can't change this are wrong, stop buying their product until they fix them, take a wait and see approach before you buy and make sure there aren't significant issues with their product, software/ hardware, whatever. I too am severely disappointed at this LAME attempt at a follow up to Fallout 3, they showed no real improvement from the previous games as far as taking the data about their software and applying what they should have learned from what essentially was a 3rd (that I know of) generation game that released with many of the same problems as the ones before. I believe it is understandable if there were new problems that they could not foresee, but not more of the same, that's just the very definition of lame. One of my definitions for stupid is: doing the same thing and expecting different results. It's not smart to think that if the problems you had in a previous game, Fallout 3 /Oblivion... went without correction, that they would not be present in the next generation utilizing the same core"engine" components. Having 2 years to come up with new Fallout and doing nothing more than what several others(amateurs) have done in a few months is nothing to get excited about, but the bug fixes from the originals definitely should have been included in this version. VicVegas84
No sir it is not. Problem is game companies are getting greedier each year. Ex. all the dlc s*** that you have to pay for with new games, even to continue playing them like map packs. Things like this used to be included in updates. My favorite companies have all fallen prey.

cerebus23
eh fo3 was plenty buggy and crash prone, was not until the unofficial patches came out and some of the custom tweaks etc that made that game even remotely enjoyable and playable. i hardly expected obsidian with their track record for buggy games to wave some wand and fix the mess that is the gamebro engine, dunno why anyone else would expect so. fact that the game ran as well as it did period, excluding the studdering issues and etc, which fo3 suffered from in spades also. also found that deleting the dll fix that was floating around immensely cured my crashing, course the game studders a lot and have to crank the gfx back but fair trade to be able to play wo crashing constantly.
