vram1974
I'm a massive Skyrim fan (320+ hours since Christmas) but I've heard great things about New Vegas and the Fallout series. I'm also a huge modding fan but I spent countless hours debugging Skyrim CTDs and cleaning papyrus logs. I finally got things together but it was frustrating. How's the New Vegas modding scene, is it as buggy as skyrim? And what mods would you recommend to a beginner to the Fallout game? I'm going to buy it from Steam tonight and I'd like to start off with the best mods already pre-installed. Thanks for your suggestions.
JimboUK
It has its problems but personally I've have nowhere near the number of problems with NV that I've had with Skyrim. One of the biggest problems with NV is a bug that limits the number of active plugins you can have to 139, any more and it falls apart, you'll have to get used to merging mods. Nozzer66
It's a Bethesda game. :) Need I say more? :) Like SKyrim though, if you're careful and double check you should be fine. However, do note: while Skyrim has a 255 plugin limit, New Vegas is limited to 135ish through one of the patches. Expect to do some mods merging. In terms of mods I wont go without: Look at Project Nevada or FOOK (one or the other. Have used both and they've got good and bad points in each) , A World Of Pain, NMC's texture pack, some of Millenia's weapons, NV Interiors Project, and if you're the type that likes companions, Willow. madmongo
I never had much of a problem with Skyrim crashing. New Vegas Anti-Crash (NVAC) helps a lot. FNV does crash though. Save often. One common crash is running out of memory. Setting your textures to a lower quality level helps reduce memory usage. With some mods though the custom textures don't work properly at the lower resolutions (which you can fix yourself if you know how to edit dds textures, just open them up and save them properly).
