hircines alpha werewolf
*Sigh* It's just hit me again, baught a game yesterday. $8 Nothing on the case claiming steam is required, Hell my friend baught it as well, he even asked about it before he payed for the game and was told it didn't need steam. We get back and it's steam. He has a faster internte so he gets to play it, he's still anoyed but he playes it. I ended up just giving mine away to another friend, it was unregistered so no harm no foul. What i'm saying with this is that even though he doesn't like steam anymore then me he still gets to play the game and complain about hating steam. I dont get that luxary, i can't play at all. No bugs, no crashes Hell, not even a clear message stating why i can't play. I just can't! All because steam is incompatable with a Dial-up internet connection. They ignore, and step on all the people that dont have, can't get or can't afford a fast internet. Also why does EVERY good game that is released in the past year have to be on steam! And there is NO Non-steam Versions!!! If you're going to release something that i want and you know i do but make EVERY LEGALY PURCHASABLE VERSION IN THE WORLD Steam. Go die in a hole. And you can bet your back teeth that thats just how Valve wants things to be.Of course!games at the store cost aproximatly as much as games sold on steam.HOWEVER. With the game you buy at the store you get the box the disk and some paper manual sort of thing. That costs money. Not much but it does. All that money goes for steam and for steam servers and it's updates and improvements.
hircines alpha werewolf
Ever find a decent pc game in a store? Dunno about you but I haven't. 1000th post Well, i acctualy have found many Decent, Good and Yes i will say it Exelent Pc games in Stores. To name a few TES: Morrowind, it's expancion packs. TES Oblivion... It's expansion packs, Fo3 (i waited and got GOTY edition.) a handfull of RTS games, CoD4, Fable TLC, RB6Vegas 2, KOTR... Would you like me to go on? Because you know i can. (also, notice that you can play ALL these games WITHOUT steam?! "OMGBBQHAX0RS! I MUST NOW SEW YOUR MOUTH SHUT IN THE NAME OF STEAM!") My main problems with Steam are It's Non-optional, It's Absolutly impossible to play that game you have been waiting to be released for *insert time here* On your PC without a Broardband internet connection so people with no or slow internet connections are just totaly ignored. (Thats what agrovates me the most, VALVE DOESN'T CARE AT ALL ABOUT THE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THEY'RE SCREWING OVER!) aaaaand most of the people that use steam complain about how badly it works! Constant crashes, Limitless Bugs, Forced Updates, No/near no tech support Once again i can go on. It's obvious to a braindead goldfish that steam should be either optional or Only required for the Multiplayer Half of games. (the ones that have muktiplayer that is.) Steam is Tailor made for the people with the location, money and time to use such an annoying peice of software.
crimsonedge11
The only problem I got with Steam is that my retail box copy has no resell value. But I got around that by making a separate account for each game. Already sold FA:NV to a friend of mine and gave him the steam account with it. I just wish they didn't make me have to do that. Overall its more of an inconvenience than anything. And my internet connection isn't fast enough to be DLing 4+ GB games (DSL sucks, but all I can get out here), so that feature is not that useful for me personally. manoftron
Man, they're banning steam games in stores? That'll keep Gabe up at night, sighing that he wont have that 20 bucks from that game somebody might have seen and bought on that small section of a shelf, that his solid gold money pool will be less one piece of paper. Oh wait.
hircines alpha werewolf
Also am i the only person here who see's this as a GOOD thing? I know one retailer Banning steam sin't going to send any message, but if enough retailers do ban steam games a message may eventualy get through. Gamer's are NOT likeing steam. Too be honest i would PAY game stores NOT to sell steam games. (dont i already do that? it's called buying NON-STEAM games! *cough*Steamfan-boyssaywhurtisyoutalkingaboot?!*cough*) What we need is a widespread steam game ban, Country wide Steam bans in stores. Of course this would just make all the people with a good enough internet connection Download from the site but it would cut their profits dramaticly. It would show all the people who can't download the games but can use steam how bad it is for us who can't even play the games we buy in store! And send a message to steam. This is just a dream of mine i know. Steam ohh how i hate you. You prevent me from playing FO:NV, now you are Rumored to come to my home, The Elder Scrolls. You Steam are a Plague, a Plague for gamers, you will not be satisfied untill you effect every game player. I await the day you finaly become too large, make a mistake and have EVERY computer gamer in the world and in turn every Game company/studio down your throat Tearing you appart from the inside. Hell I dream of all major Web-browsers refusing access to the steam website and all major anti-virus programs seeing steam software as harmful too your computer. (and your mental wellbeing too boot!) Obvoiusly None of these are going to happen, but one can dream.

Derkins
I find all of the comments on this thread to be rather lol inducing and just plain funny.I do infact support steam because. One - They have a much better selection of games I went in to walmart looked at the games and went "meh" Nothing worth my money I then went to target and again "meh" Nothing worth buying and finally I headed to Gamestop and this was a "MEH!" because low and behold they have little to NO pc games. Two - I enjoy their deals they have in their store because if you get on the right time then you gan get a NEW game for a lot less. Three - its the MOST effective DRM out there. Nothing beats it hands down. Everything else is a joke. In order for priates(I was one a few years back) to get games you have to risk you system and if your on a shared internet connection EVERY other pc in the house. You HAVE to jump through hurtals inorder to get the priated games and then there is no MP to play. Four - well not really but steam has been the biggest place I have dumped my hard earned money. Five - its NOT system heavy my computers runs exzatly the same wether I have it on or not I notice no differance when running steam. Six - you may not have complete control over your files(you have a HELL of a lot though) but then again why do you need it? other then being unable to install to a hard drive other then where steam is located. That though is changable and you dont need to reinstall everything. Seven - Mods. Yes I said it. On a modding site no less. You can FREELY mod games that you bought on steam as long as the game its self allows. Eight - Support? Wuuuut?!?! Steam offers support? ...... Yes they do have ever played an MP game and you see a hacker. You report them and the steam staff moves as quick as they can to ban him. Nine - Avalibility....NO WAY!!!!......but I have Dialup.... Hey news flash so did I!! and guess what I was using steam Nooo problem at all sure it took forever but Hey I wanted that games I was willing to wait. Ten - Clowd....WTF is THAT?!?! well its this nifty little tool that lets you "save" your saves to a server and no matter where you go you can retrive them. Do I need to keep going here or do you get my point.Steam is a good progam and I am happy to have it rather then EVERYSINGLE devolper soming up with their own DRM to Ehff up our computers slow them down terribly and kill the PC gaming comunity. Yes I said it Steam SAVED the PC gamers. Big brick and moarters a lot with absolutly horrid DRMs almost killed PC gaming. Then Steam came along and saved us all. Now I see how you couldent see this you Steam haters. But news flash. Would you rather not buy a steam game OR buy a game and have a company with their own DRM on the game that was even more of a system hog. Oh yeah ever try cable? as long as you can get the Tv you can get the internet. Not sure if you know that its also pretty cheap for the lower priced speeds and Dial up is not. I know my mom works for a company that still offers Dialup. Of corse you may think I am sitting up here on my high horse but dont be fooled I am not.I have had the slowest internet speed and the worst PC ever. Its not till I got my very own job that I found out how awesome good things are.Stop hating steam for what it is. A good DRM and a good digital store.
