simplywayne90
Well the cafe should be part of the worldspace, but the rest shouldn't be, since some involve difficult fights, as well as completely custom terrian, the actual worldspace wouldn't be a problem since we ca use the modders resource "NV worldspace Island" mod as a base, then change the worldspace to SpecEncountersWorld or something like that, so it wouldn't conflict with any other worldspace possible unless someone else named a world the same thing. Another reason is too avoid things that happen with mods like these, while the guy you proposed may show up at random, depending where you are the event would get interrupted or not make sense. Like if your in an area full of deathclaws, and darth vader shows up and gets killed by deathclaws before getting to talk to you. Then whatever dialog or fight you were supposed to have is now ruined. I've had this happen with lots of mods adding things to the wastes, also another thing bad that could happen is the encounter NPCs killed without you knowing it so you miss out on content. There are more complications with integrating these into the vanilla landscape, then the problems we'd face with new worldpace and a few generic and copied cells (which is buggy as hell) I'm glad you mentioned how the encounters would tranfer, I still plan on a loading screen as being a necessary evil. However I like the idea of a dark figure who just whisks you away whenever you meet him, of course it'd have to be a choice since players may be during a quest or not want to play the encounter at that time.I've been trying to find a good sequence for it, like the one in fallout 3 with vault 87 and the enclave or in the cube experimental (although MUCH less intricate as we should focus on encounters and humor first, then try to "polish the Turd" after its functional.) - I like your idea, like a Dark faceless mysterious stranger. (Sounds like the Twilight Zone) - I've been thinking of maybe recreating the abduction sequence just for kicks, maybe only if the encounter involves aliens. (I'm working on a very funny alien companion A.T.M) - The Vault 11 Light sequence (at 5 minutes in to about 5:05) Don't watch anymore than that or else it will spoiler Vault 11 for you. - A stylized Fade to Black (perhaps like how blood ends up on the "screen" but black and we'd mulitply it to eventually and quickly black out the screen) This is probably impossible but I do speak my ideas anyway as someone may want to attempt them. -If we wanted to just skate by on functionality we could do what they did with Tranquility Lane and just have a convient door appear and disapper using a script to spawn the door a certain distance in front of the player, but I feel thats not every exciting. Edit: Oh also how is the cafe coming along? I finally got someone to agree to reskinn the neon "Open 24 hours" sign in the game to read "Cafe Of Broken Dreams" but he said he'd make it after his mod is completed shortly Edited December 14, 2010 by simplywayne90
simplywayne90
Fro anyone involved or watching this project know that its still going, but as predicted the mods did make the file page to private, We knew this would happen, the file page was more of a preview and help wanted flyer, So once we get a good beta then I will make it public again. I will post this on the file pages comment thread for others and we will continue discussions over this project both here on this thread and we will discuss new possible encounters on the other special encounter thread. Thanks For the Support Everyone. And of course thank anyone willing to contribute in any way possible, as this mod is a community project and would likely be far too large for any one modder. simplywayne90
Well work on things seems to be picking up momentum, I've recieved a few emails and things with promise, I didn't do much in relation to the project today and will be designing and gathering resources tomarrow instead. However heres a quick little ad I whipped up for the mod, since it seems big mods have these. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/imageshare/images/1329910-1292721686.jpg Edit: To everyone wanting to be or who is involved in this mod I'd suggest giving this thread and its resources a once over. simplywayne90
Well I thought while playtesting our wonderful encounter made by Scallywag that I'd make a couple screenshots to pose my character, and to show some of our results. http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4678/guardianofforeverposing.jpghttp://img841.imageshack.us/img841/6896/guardianofforever.jpghttp://img580.imageshack.us/img580/6569/vault13inpristinecondit.jpg Heres hoping that all the future encounters we build will be as good as this or better if possible. Kudos go to Scallywag38 for all his work on this specific encounter. Edited December 20, 2010 by simplywayne90
simplywayne90
If anyone was wondering this project isn't dead, we took a break for holidays, and I myself took extra time due to a death on new years. We're slowly going to pick up steam again, also more news, Demeggy (The Master of All Doctor Who content in Fallout) has stated he made a special encounter or two to include in his own mod Fallout Who, which is a mod that mixes Doctor Who and Fallout into one gloriously fun playthrough. Which means, that you all should play that mod as well, and means that slowly but surely the idea of encounters is spreading and developing in the community, Which means that maybe we will have lots of different encounters and different types from many modders eventually, Which if they became popular enough then maybe the game-smiths will even include them in the next vanilla game like they did between Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Good news huh? =]
simplywayne90
While I'm online again today, I'd like to put out that if anyone who can mod, model, and especally if you can texture then please contact me and join our team. We're short on "modder power" at the moment due to members being busy with everyday life, or who have become unreachable. Also part of my job for this mod is looking for new and interesting modders, or resources to include. So if you've seen a cool resource or something you think we could use from a mod then message me the details, even if your not the author It makes my job on this easier and I'll go through and contact them. Thanks for reading and keeping up with us, we are still on track! -Simplywayne90, and the rest of the S.E.R Team.
simplywayne90
I'm about to post some new ideas, or they may be old, I'll have to go check. I'll likely edit this post into something actually important but I'm busy posting a lot at the moment and I figure a short message here will make things easier for me when I edit this in like 10 minutes. UttaNutta
These all look awesome, I loved the encounters in F2. How about you find a large man wandering along with a minigun, with a belt of bullets across his chest. In his inventory, he has a football helmet, a head wrap, and a Chinese commando headgear. He says he's looking for the Kings, to get a Hound Dog. If you point him in the right direction, he tells you that you are credit to team. Anyone get it? It shouldn't be too hard, and with the Kings in Freeside, I reckon this would be funny.

Also, why not do something with Duke Nukem, someone already did a mod for him, so it shouldn't be too hard right? I'd love to see him have gum in his inventory because it contradicts his saying. UttaNutta
Oh, actually, make him be sitting in a pile of crates, and if you ask him, he tells you he has no keys. He's willing to give you the crates for bits of scrap metal though. Okay, I'll stop. Yeah, considering there is gum, that would be funny. What if he said that he was all out of ass? On second thoughts.... that might be a bit.... gay. Edited January 31, 2011 by UttaNutta
