Hey there,

I have been playing Skyrim before but due to certain circumstances I can't any more. Now I wanna re-buy the game, but not sure which edition/version to buy in order to suite my needs. So I am here asking for your help :(

I am confused what to buy so help meh out by reading the following please. e.e

I wanna buy the Skyrim of the latest version (regardless of its price), also a version that accepts all kinds mods installed~

Don't really care about Skyrim's additional books, lore or any of that history stuff just want the game of the latest features and epicness.

Thanks in advance.

Buy the game of the year edition, it's the base game plus DLCs, all versions for the PC can be modded although having the DLC will give you access to mods that rely on that DLC as well.

Skyrim is a Steam exclusive - if you get it somewhere else, in order to be legal, you STILL must register it through steam (it's FREE to register it as long as you have a ligit version) So, get it from steam to start with to avoid the complexity of dealing with multiple vendors. The Steam version is always up to date and is often on sale.

Current Steam non sale prices - Skyrim only - US $19.99 Skyrim Legendary ( with all DLC included) US $39.99 (price will vary based on location though)

I recommend the legendary if you are going to be using mods as many mods require one or more of the DLCs as well.

Pirate versions often have problems with being up to date and with some mods. Often stores and internet sales are selling counterfeit versions that are nothing but pirate versions burned to a CD  A ligit CD WILL ALWAYS ask you to sign onto steam to update and verify the game.

I bought the legendary edition. It's great.

One thing I don't understand fully is this. How is a software developed by a company, in this case Bethesda, only available through Steam? I bought Skyrim as my very first game for a computer, at a game shop, and being somewhat on the mature side of 50, this was all a whole new world to me. I was at first alarmed I had to connect to this Steam, after I had installed the discs and let the game load, etc. However, it all seems to work well, and I even bought another three games in the Steam sales. Why, though, is Steam necessary to play a game I bought at a proper shop for gaming and how does Steam have this monopoly?

Steam doesnt have a monopoly because there is Origin as well. same thing but from EA. there are even some games that are on both Steam and Origin. Also there are plenty of games that dont require you to have Steam. Those that do likely have a contract with Valve to have their games published on there, and if someone buys a physical copy, it must register with Steam. that fact though does have many gamers complaining, as, like you said, if you buy a physical game you shouldnt have to have anything to do with Steam. but cest la vie, thats how it is. others, like myself, dont really have any issues with it. i love Steam. its a great way to have all my games in a library and able to play with a click of a button, keeps everything up to date, sales often, DLC, and mods.

Ok! I hope someone is still watching this thread.

Really dumb question coming. What happened to the Legendary Edition mods?!! I bought the legendary edition about two years ago and was still picking through mods and etc. here when I dropped my laptop and cracked my hard drive. This past summer I was finally able to get it repaired and I was given a tower with a better video card. So I Finally found time to download my Skyrim and start over when, I came here and found that all the Legendary mods are GONE. What do I do now??? HELP PLEASE?!!
