It's not you, it's not the users. It's the corporate suits. I af modder wants to try his luck with a 5 dollar mod (when AAA titles are available for less on Steam and often for free), by all means. But the bulk of the money should go to the modder. What I am seeing is exploitation and unethical business practices.

Dear modders, you do great job. Nobody forces players to buy anything, but, IMHO, if you want to make a money, make a new game. There is a bunch of free good engines, like unity 5 and unreal engine 4, and your original work will be more valuable for world culture.

are we heading to a place where steam / beth even allow a paid mod to be put up on the nexus?

what about copy cats? or perceived copy cats?

My biggest concern outside of muh 25% is copywrite. I can see it devestate the nexus with DMCA.

I hate that they've done this. I see mods on there I'd love to have, and would even pay for, but I don't have a way to pay for them. Probably best for me to just avoid the WS so I don't have to see them. lol

thats a great solution, "donation version" "free version" every modder who does this or leaves their mod up for free on nexus has a brain

For the modders who feel torn about this, and for all us gamers here I have a suggestion.

Let's claim the modders to us, to the community. They want to be paid for their work, and that's more than fine by me, I completely support that. Let's start a fundraiser. A parteon account. Proceeds will go weekly to the top 100 mods in the nexus. Or maybe we can discuss a better way to do it. We all chip in. I will start with a $100 as soon as something like that it set, and I'm more than happy to pay that every month.

Just, please, stay as one community. Mods are a product of this community. It wouldn't be the same if it was a business.
