could this have anything to do with why everytime i try to download this: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=2608 i end up with a file that is just a random sequence of letters and numbers?

I had no problem downloading that file. I opened it fine in WinRAR.

well for me it never downloads as a .rar file, just something like "CA6BANU5" and no icon...

Well do you have winrar?

It might be because you don't have winrar.

If you do then I'm stumped!

Sorry!

Quite a few people have had issues with corrupted downloads from TESSource... it isn't just you. Since the problem seems to be just as much (if not more) on their end as it is on our end, I'm not sure exactly how to go about fixing it.

Random letters and numbers showing up on the browser screen itself is a result of your browser being incapable of receiving the file via PHP headers. If you're using IE this is probably because your security settings are too high or your firewall is being lame.
