evaldasl
Hello everybody. So i installed Oblivion like 3 weeks ago, and had this error "The Oblivion launcher could not find the Oblivion game executable. Please reinstall Oblivion", still i could get it to work via the Oblivion.exe.. I tried to reinstall the game like 4 times, it still gives the same error.. I wouldn't mind this, but OBMM wouldn't work, which would be useful for mods..Sorry if this question has answered before, i just can't find the solution.. P.S Same problem with Morrowind ("The Morrowind launcher could not find the Morrowind game executable. Please reinstall Morrowind") EDIT: SOLVED. Got my PC fixed, so everything works fine now. =) Edited January 21, 2011 by evaldasl

Disk C:\Bethesda Softworks, Disk D:\Bethesda Softworks and in Disk C:\Program Files\Bethesda SoftworksStill the same... Both Morrowind and Oblivion worked properly about a year ago, but then i uninstalled, but 3 weeks ago i decided to play it again.. luxwing0go
Did you try downloading Oblivion Mod Manager, putting it in your Oblivion folder and starting the game up with it instead of the original .exe? My original .exe does the same thing (ie, can't find the game data and such) and I just launch it with OBMM and Script Extender. Running Vista, BTW. But try that and see if that works for you. Heck, maybe just having the Script Extender replacing your .exe will work. P.S. - My game is installed in my games folder and I think that's why it can't find the information on its own. Oh well. bben46
It's possible that some entries were left behind in the Windows registry when you removed it. This happens when you didn't use the uninstall program that comes on the disk - such as you just deleted the game folders. How to clean those entriesUninstall the game using the uninstall on the disk. If the game has already been removed, try creating a dummy folder - C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion - put a dummy file named Oblivion.exe in it ( rename any garbage file to Oblivion.exe and place it there) - Then run the uninstall - this will clear most of the stuff left behind. And remove the Oblivion.exe you made. To get the rest, get a good registry cleaner - I use ccleaner available here: http://majorgeeks.co...Slim_d4191.html After installing the registry cleaner, reboot the computer BEFORE running the cleaner. Then reboot again AFTER running the cleaner. This removes any 'orphan entries' left by a failed install. Now try installing - on an XP system the default location is fine.
