as it appears, disease resistance won't decrease your chance of contracting the disease

so as far as i can tell, there is no way to not contract it at all

of course, if you have a decent restoration, you could always get a "cure disease" spell, and neutralize the disease

or, if you have some good alchemy skill, you could make plenty of cure disease potions, if a spell is too tough for your character

Well if you have the Vile Lair curing Vampirism isn't a problem at all. Also, if you get your disease resistance boosted up relatively high I believe that helps as well. Not 100% sure that resist disease prevents it, but seeing as it's a disease I'd think it would. I'll get back to you sometime when I know for sure, unless someone else is able to confirm/deny this before I do.

well, i checked on the Oblivion Usep, and they said that because this specific disease is defined differently than other diseases, disease resistance doesn't help against it

not sure about Vile Lair, as i don't have it, but i'll take your word on that

Ahh, well looks like there's no point in wasting precious enchantment on disease resistance then.

And yeah, I ended up getting the full package off of Steam recently to try Oblivion out on the PC. Not bad I have to say, but the Console Commands spoil me. Back on topic, though, the Vile Lair is included in the Deluxe and there's a pool located inside of it that you can activate to cure Vampirism. As I tend to avoid Porphyric Hemophilia and all that stuff I've yet to actually try it out, and cannot say whether or not it'll cure you multiple times or if it only works once.

Vampire Dust is valuable and "Cure Disease" is cheap. At lower levels your Restoration probably won't be up to the task, but there are a zillion alchemy ingredients whose only really useful effect is "Cure Disease", so you shouldn't have a problem.

You can even munch on a raw Mandrake Root and most of the time it will cure you. (Two roots have always done the trick for me, but you should really make Cure Disease potions and not waste your mandrake roots like that.)

Just make sure you deal with it promptly -- there's a timer on this one and when it runs out I think only a visit to a chapel can cure you.

Easy & free ... If the disease is contracted while dungeonning , you most certainly

will go to a town/city to resell/stock your loot .... so while you're doing that ,

pray at the main altar (in any chapel in any town) ;)

That will also get all your "drained attributes" you may have.
