I am perfectly calm, I am merely scratching my head at people who seem to see things that simply arent there. Nexus is a big place that relies on ad revenue, donations and memberships to keep the content it provides free.

It always has, it always will. The whole service provider BS is simply a thank you donation to Nexus, which is totally optional and isnt exclusive to Nexus. Name a modding site and they are likely on that same list. Chesko singled out Nexus because he wanted to shift the blame.

The mod authors giving Nexus a small percentage is the same as us buying a membership or donating directly, and Dark0ne has pointed this out many times now. This isnt an argument because i want a fight (lol) its me stating facts, thats it.

Haha but seriously, I second this- you really should look into taking SOME kind of vacation this year, man. We'd prefer the stress not get to you, and some idiots just aren't reconcilable.

You see, that is how this whole issue started. Donations is the problem. Once Bethesda saw that people were making many off of their product that had no choice but to protect themselves.

They gave us the CS (construction set) for free and allowed and trusted us to mod as a hobby. But we abused that trust and turned it into a business. And so now Big Daddy Bethesda is coming and punishing us by saying , "you want to sell your mods, fine. But now we control everything and we want our cut."

Greedy modders. You deserve this. I hope they steal your mods and take everything. Because of this the entire community spirit has be poisoned.

I agree... I haven't commented much on these general forums before but have been called a troll just for trying to contribute to the debate, something I really care about. This makes me feel frustrated as I paid for a membership in the real belief that it meant I had at least a fair share of the voice of the community.

This is my first comment on the nexus, but i have just some words....

Honestly, the nexus IS, toghether with LL, the best modding site/community i've ever seen....

So keep up the work and don't think too much about the people who speaks just to "let the air troughpass into their mouth".

I love this site, it gave me the possibilities to download the impossible to make my skyrim game even better, like all the people here, i nave a free account, never payd but, my adblock is off vere because this is the only way i have to support it forma now.....

So, Dark0ne don't worry, the community cannot die, who want to pay there can pay there, who want to support/pay here can just do it as always...

To be honest, I was never for the Grey Manes or the Battle Borns. I was never for the Imperials or the Stormcloaks. If Skyrim taught me anything, it's that people who tell you that you absolutely have to pick a side are wrong, and will bore you to death. In that order.

So when Dark0ne says he's neutral, I believe him. I've read his posts, he's never come out against pay4mods, he's only expressed concern about potential issues that could arise from them. He is not taking any modders cuts, and he's not forcing anyone to pay for him, he's merely opted into a voluntary system to help improve the site. If such a time comes when he decides to start charging for access to this site, or allowing mods to make their mods pay for only, then you will have evidence for your claims.

Claims you have made a lot of. You say he wants to be a champion for free mods, but he never claimed that. You state he's angry he didn't get a bigger cut of Valve's profits, but you have no evidence for this claim. You claim he is a troll merely because he pointed out an illogical inconsistency in your argument (in a minor, kind of sort of rude way, which I get and see it as the mistake it was, if only because you'd continue bringing it up.) You claim other people are trolling you when they merely disagree with you. You claim to have fought for this site and free modding, yet you aren't a contributor (neither am I, but I understand this place wouldn't be here without them.) You even claim to be standing up for what you believe in.

There is a difference between standing up for your beliefs and flinging accusations about without proper evidence. You want to question his motives? That's fine, I question the funds of scientific studies all the time, but I always read the study, take in the evidence, and mull it over to see if their are any actual flaws before accusing the study of being a shill for a corporate interest. Forgive me for saying so, but you sound like a religious doomsayer the way you talk. Or like you're a conservative who really hates anything to do with democrats.

If you apply the same argument to yourself as you have to others, then you have called people debating actual points with you "pathetic," just like the guy who "called you stupid." There is nothing troll about people merely disagreeing with you in the same tone you have disagreed with others. If you want to be taken seriously, then debate facts in a clear, respectful manner. If not, have fun with your free nexus account.

I've never read 19 pages of comments before... I've never commented on one of your posts before. I hope all of this ends well, I really do. In any event, it made rattling good-reading.

 

There is much in the way of displaced passion here. Even now, somewhere in the world, there are innocents being slaughtered and countless atrocities being visited unnecessarily upon humanity: mass-starvation, natural-disasters, ethnic-cleansings, racial-hygiene, and genocides. And yet, many of you are losing your minds over this nonsense. Friends, at least attempt to put things into perspective. Regarding the corporate-dynamic; news-flash: Humans have been inherently motivated by self-interest since the dawn of our species and it is the inevitable natural condition of the free market to garner as much profit as possible, be it by hook, crook, bullet, bomb or dagger. No one and nothing on this earth is perfect, but let us try to address any such imperfections with fraternity and charity.

 

Robin, in the interest of perspicuity, it does feel as if you've been less-then-transparent with the mob. I may be entirely wrong, but that is simply the way the whole dynamic feels to me. Necessity also requires me to note, that I am incredibly grateful for being given the opportunity to voice my opinion, even in passing, (for whatever it's worth) but most especially for being able to participate in having a Nexus account, which should be noted, is absolutely free. Thank you for giving me (and many others) a place to come to to enhance my Skyrim experience.
