What are some mods that will enhance my experience of this game significantly.

I ask because i actually want to play through this game properly now, since all i've ever done in the past is mess around with cheats etc.

I'm not really wanting to play through vanilla since i know from Fallout how much better the modding community tend to make Bethsoft games, and i don't know if i'll really be playing through multiple times.

i can has DL links to some mods that are either cosmetics, bugfixes or just generally cool stuff to make the game better. :)

Thanks.

Francescos leveled creatures items mod.

Adds lots of weapons, armor and monsters, as well as adjusting the leveling and loot system.

I never will play without it, and I like that it doesn't totally annihilate my Oblivion compared to vanilla (like how OOO does. It's a wonderful mod, but then it's like I'm not even playing Oblivion. Too much for me, thank you.)

I'd also recommend body mods like Robert's and HGEC. (There is also a mod that converts the Fran's armor addons to the HGEC body.)

For bug fixes, never can go wrong with all the unofficial Oblivion patches (just search them here on TESNEXUS). And, while it is not a bug fix, this glass re-texture really makes the glass armor and weapons more pleasing to the eyes.

As for cosmetic mods, I use Modified Hair and Eyes v.2.5 . Just google it and you'll find it. WARNING: big file huuhr.

hey thanks, i've actually only just stopped playing, mostly because this game is significantly harder when you don't start with all your skills maxxed out and with the best gear there is :/

I'm actually struggling quite a bit since i'm playing a caster and my only "nuke" type spells are currently about as effective as my punches making this whole thing incredibly difficult.

It's not unplayably difficult, but i'm just very squishy and i have next to no burst despite being a caster.

I feel like i need to kite every single enemy and if there is more than one of them or they have a ranged attack then i'm in a lot of trouble.

Consider companion mods: they advance with you, they'll fight for you, they carry stuff for you, and they (or at least, many of them) can't be killed, though that can be turned off, if you prefer. Some of them also provide a lot of character, and some quests. Take a look at Vilja, Viconia, and the more difficult to acquire Saphira.

You might also want to consider a mod that ramps up the power and versatility of spells. I use a combination of Less Annoying Magic Experience, and Supreme Magicka. Both add spells, the former quite a lot, while the latter has a very configurable ini file that lets you tailor how a lot of stuff works--how powerful a given spell is, how many summons an enemy of yours can make, etc.

The good thing about companions too is that the enemies will generally charge your companion first, so if you have a warrior or other "tank" type companion, you can fire away while the enemy is distracted, assuming your aim is decent. I play a thief character who carries only a dagger and has minimal fighting skill, so companions help in tight situations.

Also, don't be afraid to turn the difficulty slider down if it better suits your playstyle. Don't think of it as making the game easier, rather, think of it as making your skills more powerful...without adding mods...

Yeah, no shame in turning the difficulty slider down. I don't typically have the slider maxed to the right early in the game anyhow. It's a lot harder to hold your own in high difficulty in the lower levels, at least from my experience. I'll typically stick at the midway point until around level 20 when I've got some decent equipment, and then gradually raise it to ease myself into a tougher game. That said, though, there's also no shame in having the slider all the way to the left. If you're trying to learn the game the first time, or are even just trying out a new combat discipline, it's probably better to do that at a difficulty that won't punish every mistake you make.
