path2anonimity
I really think it would be great if Morrowind could be completely redone but with Oblivion graphics...combining the awesome gameplay from Morrowind with the great graphics from Oblivion would totally own. Abramul
I'd be perfectly happy to have Morrowind's graphics and gameplay coupled with a halfway decent engine. I'll grant you that less chunky meshes wouldn't be unwelcome. I would LOVE to see support for Radiant AI, with scheduling left to the community. Havok, though, would not go well, unless every single cell were re-worked. There are a few existing programs that make MW's graphics better, for instance:http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=5535
Povuholo
I'd be perfectly happy to have Morrowind's graphics and gameplay coupled with a halfway decent engine.I posted a thread here a while ago giving that link. I hope it happens, but I don't think so. A lot of people like the idea though (Of course!)
tmx
if its new graphic, with fixed physics, fixed leveling up systems, adn other bugs then its worth it. but pointless if its just better graphic. overall i think its too much work and dedication needed to force on a bunch of broke college students. so i think it's better to work on fixing the physic on the actual morrowind now. the Tamriel Rebuilt project right now is pretty enticing for me, take a look at that. It's not about better graphics. It's about a better engine. The one Morrowind uses... kinda sucks. There are games that are more graphical intensive than Morrowind, but still give you a higher performance. If you read through the thread Abramul linked to you'll see most of it isn't about better graphics.
Sypron
I wouldn't like the idea of havok. Sure, its fun, and realistic, but it hogs your processing if you don't have a phyiscs card.
dreth
To the original question: I think that if new graphics were added it would take away from the story. Since the original MW graphics weren't great player focused more on the story than just how it looks.
Switch
I'm not so sure about that Dreth... no denying it does a better job than Oblivion from a storytelling/immersion point of view, but at the time of release those graphics were some of the best, much like Oblivion was at its time of release. I can still remember getting the game in late 2002 and thinking "wow... this is the most realistic game I've ever seen!". Not to mention the game almost shuddering to a complete halt on my 1ghz, 256MB RAM, GeForce 3 MX400 puny PC. ;D
Abramul
If the graphics were reworked, I'd only use it if the 'barren wasteland' feel (for most of the island, less a few regions) were kept intact.
Adras
I think that Oblivion's graphics would indeed help the forests and areas, but I dont know if they will quite do the barren wasteland justice. I also agree that the Havoc engine would be pretty cool, but I really prefer Morrowind just how it is. Really the only thing that needs to be changed is the faces and bodies, and that is where Psycodog Studios has helped us out. Better Bodies and Better Heads: the first two mods I ever download after a fresh Morrowind install.
