KennethKarl
I had another question for the Moderators. I've seen this several times, where accounts will be "Banned by request". Maybe it's none of my business, but why would someone request that they be banned? It's been puzzleing me for a while.
DeadMansFist849
It could be that they have lost interest in participating on Nexus, or they don't have time to be here and don't want the temptation when they're supposed to deal with RL issues. Kuraikiba
Oh, those people's nerve! :P Now, I have a question. How exactly are you guys able to determine what is a spambot and what isn't? I saw one on here (was bored and checking threads at random ;) ), and I almost thought it was an actual person.

But then wouldn't they just delete their account? Or is that not possible (I haven't tried)?
bben46
@kuraikiba:A spambot may seem like a real person until you look at the context of the thread they are posting in. If their comments do not match the topic - it's probably a bot. If the topic is Oblivion mod requests and a new thread is started discussing certain popular TV shows - It's a bot. The real give away is usually there is a link somewhere to a site selling something. Another is a comment in the off topic section saying something like "I was just surfing the internet and came across your site. it looks real interesting." But with no real connection to what they were supposedly looking at or any info that would reveal that they were looking at anything but a generic site. Then there will usually be a come on like "Please visit my site in return" with a link to a porn or sleazy sales site. Also there are databases of known spammers we can check. Thandal
And no, users cannot delete their own accounts. Takes Staff action to suspend ("ban") one.

I saw one on here (was bored and checking threads at random ;) ), and I almost thought it was an actual person. Couple of signs to usually determine if someone's a spammer. 1. It's their first post and they joined recently.2. Links to outside sites that seem to have no relation to modding/the games. 3. Some totally irrelevant topic. Most people don't go to random game forums to talk about their life.4. The structure of the post can also point to it. If they just throw random links in there, or spontaneously talk about this awesome shopping site they found.

Silvermistshadow
Question: If a support thread goes unanswered for a length of time (I use 72 hours from the last time the topic poster posted in the thread), is it ever appropriate to bump the thread?
