I understand what you mean but some really needed to go because they related too much with each other. For example, acrobatics and athletics are better off as one skill as it's pointless for jumping to be considered acrobatics. Acrobatics is the ability to dodge not jump like a frog and if they couldn't improve it, then scap it.

If you look at it, there are improvements too, like better AI, better faces and better combat, no level scaling; it's all relative. If they can pull off something like Morrowind then I will be happy but if it's another Oblivion, then I'm done and you would have a point. I also want to add if I ever see the prison as my starting point, then I'll march to Beth and shout for some originality. I hope that they bring some fresh air to this game, not rehash the same plot over and over again.

For me TES is all about the world and atmosphere. I don't care for mechanics as long as they are not too bothersome. Levelscaling was not a good idea but I still had fun playing Oblivion. As for skills: I agree that adding many skills which could be contained in less numbers can be bothersome. Some skills are just useless on low levels and it's problematic to actually use them to level them up. I didn't like the idea of teachers that could only teach you 5 point skills per level.

I would like someone to explain fully to me how they believe Oblivion was simpler than Morrowind, this would benefit many people.

1000% more dialogue than oblivion.

No compass markers and quests that blatantly tell you what to do.

No level scaling at all.

Magicka doesn't regenerate.

Blessings from altars cost money.

You can fail at casting or attacking.

Leveling up increases attatck precision, not damage.

No fast travel, forced to use immersive and fair silt strider system.

No magically essential NPCs.

Given death bounty if you're wanted enough.

NPCs don't magically know whats stolen.

The list goes on and on, basically if you play morrowind for 10 minutes you'll realize how much better oblivion should of been.

1000% more dialogue than oblivion. But very little voice acting, i'd rather hear than read potentially pointless or trivial information all the time.

No compass markers and quests that blatantly tell you what to do. I'm sure these can be ignored, but i remember in Morrowind, it was so annoying trying to get to somewhere you didn't know because of cliff racers

No level scaling at all. I agree with this point, but i does not 'Dumb' down, but perhaps makes the game too easy.

Magicka doesn't regenerate. I didn't enjoy this feature. I can understand how this remove an intelligence from the game as management and careful thought into which spells to use is not needed in Oblivion to the same extent. However, i felt that without Magicka regeneration the game was fighting against you if you were not entierely optimized for magic.

Blessings from altars cost money. How can you pay the gods?

You can fail at casting or attacking. Again hated this, i felt it was a remnant from old dice rpgs where you could miss. It is unrealistic and non-immersive, if i point a sword at someone and i am close i should hit them, even if i do so little damage that it was pointless.

Leveling up increases attatck precision, not damage. ^

No fast travel, forced to use immersive and fair silt strider system. You can avoid fast travel in Oblivion if you want. Fast travel was present in Daggerfall, though in a more sophisticated system than in Oblivion. I think a public transport system should've been present in Oblivion.

No magically essential NPCs. I think undying essentials were put in because there was nothing worse than when in Morrowind, you just got an immense weapon, armour or spell and you accidently kill an essential and need to reload because you want to do that main quest.

Given death bounty if you're wanted enough. I think this feature was probably removed for cultural reasons, to highlight the differences in the two civilisations of the Dunmer and Imperials

NPCs don't magically know whats stolen. I enjoyed the theive's guild in oblivion, and the need for fences. It added extra risk and excitement to being a thief, plus would shop owners not report stolen items?

The list goes on and on, basically if you play morrowind for 10 minutes you'll realize how much better oblivion should of been. I have played Morrowind and found that the game fought with you too much. Though it seemed that the game had great depth, they're were things that made it hard to really get into it.

All matter of opinion but I must say Oblivion was much more simple and easy then Morrowind
