the next logical step: ulfric, jarl of solitude.

Ive always played as a storm cloak and ive always had this idea that after the civil war quest (on the stormcloak side) that Ulfric should take his rightful place on the throne of solitude, and further more, he should then appoint the player as the new jarl of windhelm. im not exactly the most advanced in modding, and i dont know how hard it would be to make this happen, but it would be pretty awesome, i think. any other suggestions? oppinions? ideas?

Appoint himself as jarl of a hold that hates him AND appoint his successor at his old hold to be someone with a bad case of wanderlust? Windhelm is the ancient capital of Skyrim in the times of Ysgramor anyway, and since he's playing the Good Old Ways card for all it's worth, moving his capital to Solitude makes no sense. It is not the next logical step.

but by those same rules, if the moot were to gather and vote ulfric to high king, he WOULD take the solitude throne, regardless of whether the people of the city like him or not. which would leave the city of windhelm jarlless.

even still, if he moves the capital back to windhelm, and the moot meets and hes elected high king, why the hell would he leave solitude under the rule of someone who despises him lol.

Because removing Elisif and putting in some Stormcloak yes-man will make the hold despise him even more.

And Eastmarch wouldn't be "jarl-less". Torygg's personal hold was Haafingar. It's why that hold is the typical seat of Imperial-allied kings' power.

In response to psylence's comment about leaving Elisif in power, Ulfric knew that it would make him look more merciful and reasonable. Also, Ulfric could better control Haafingar by using Elisif as a puppet, like Tullius did, than by ruling it himself, as many of the people in Solitude really loved Torygg. .

Ulfric is playing a right-wing populist game. Although some percentage of the population will follow him no matter what, he needs more than that to successfully control the country. At least until public opinion is sufficiently on his side that he can label anybody who speaks against him an "undesirable" and have them rounded up for disturbing the peace. In the meantime he has little choice but to tolerate the leaders of the other holds, at least the ones with popular support. Edited by lofgren
