Sinophile
Hai Guyz,I have been a fan of Firefox since 2003. I enjoy the many add-ons and extensions it offers. However, it does not seem to agree with Windows 7. Whenever I close Firefox, and try to open it again, I get a message saying that ,"Firefox is already running but not responding", and often have to open up the task manager and exit it from the Processes menu. I have since downloaded Chrome, which I like because it offers more screenspace, and less of a memory footprint(about one third of Firefox's). However, I miss my Firefox extensions, such a Fireftp, Foxytunes, flashblock,ad-block, Stumble,Tor and Screengrab just to name a few. Also, is Google trustworthy? I don't want Google spying on me. http://s-ak.buzzfed.com/static/imagebuzz/web02/2009/3/12/21/if-browsers-were-girls-7420-1236909037-1.jpg
bben46
I've been using Firefox with win7 x64 and never seen that particular problem. I just tried FF4. And it's not quite ready for prime time yet - back to FF3 till they get the bugs out. Problems with FF4 (after several hours of use)Doesn't play well with LastPassWhen I told it to erase history, It also erased all of my saved passwords http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f351/charonn0/ohgeez-1.gifWent to the bug report page & filled out a bug report. And the submit button was grayed out. :wallbash:
paganwannbe
Also, is Google trustworthy? I don't want Google spying on me. I'm just going to answer the one,Google keeps records of what you look up and all that good stuff even if you use ctrl+shift+P it will still remember all of it,I don't know about else where but if you live here in the U.S.A if the G-man comes a knockin on Googles door with a strongly worded letter the "hand over the goods" so to speak but if you have AT&T you wouldn't have to worry about Google spying on you AT&T gets paid to do so to speak I don't know if AT&T still does it but they did give all the information they had on you the the G-man last year, since the bush administration in fact. conspiracy theorist out http://publicridicule.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/conspiracy3.jpg
bben46
Just because they really are out to get you doesn't mean you are not paranoid. If you don't want anyone spying on you stay off the computer - Not just the internet. In one of my first computer science courses (Fortran 102, in the year 1979) my instructor told us to Never - NEVER put anything - ANYTHING on a computer that you didn't want Everyone to know. And that was long before the internet. Once something is on the internet it never really goes away. Think about that when you post pics from your last wild drunken escapade on the nearly unsecured Facebook. (Read what Zukerberg has to say about security sometime.- http://www.crn.com/news/security/222300279/facebooks-zuckerberg-face-it-no-one-wants-online-privacy-anymore.htm;jsessionid=KQKGpU64ypckHJAstymbyw**.ecappj01 He doesn't think you have anything to hide) Even if you take those pics down, they are still out there somewhere, where your next boss can see them when he is checking your credentials. ginnyfizz
Totally agree with that, bben46, which is one of the reasons that I refuse to have a Facebook account. The other is because my current employer has more or less insisted that we do, which made me utter a phrase which used a ripe Anglo Saxon term coupled with the word off. I am not having them harass me when I'm off duty as well as when I'm on it. Oops but..errr...yes, I also don't have issues with Firefox 3.6 and Windows 7. After Bben46 advice, I shall let them fix up Firefox 4 before I try.
LadyMilla
I'm using Firefox 4.0 beta 10 on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Except for the unavoidable teething issues, I have no problems with it at all. I also use Chrome. Both are fine in my opinion. @bben46:That's a good one about paranoia, although I prefer a slightly altered version: "Just because you are paranoid, that does not mean you are not being followed." Myself, I'm using KeePass for password management and it works fine, even with FF4 Beta - I don't trust any password management solution that uses an online vault for password storage. Paxan_1
Hi,i'm using Firefox 3.6 with my Windows 7 x64 and never had issues with it. I don't trust it with passwords or security so i always delete all after closing it. My passwords are safe stored not in my computer ;)My Firefox is updated with some nice addons for privacy and safety (like FoxyProxy, NoScript, Adblock aso.), i don't know how they work or if they are trustable but it is more other browser offer. Thats the reason for me to stay with the Fox. My thoughts because of the others, Chrome?, i don't know but it is Google..., same for Safari with Apple. Heard some weird stories from tracking data from the IPhone... Same thoughts because of the IE. The only "real" option would be Opera, but to be honest i'm used to Firefox and i feel safe with it ;) This is only my opinion (i'm not a computer expert) but maybe it helps a little. Nadimos
Ghostery is also one of those cool little addons one should have imo. Not an expert either, but i would stay away from anything google, if you can. They prey on poeples data. Once i wanted to get an android, but then i came back to my senses again. Besides i dont want to spend the whole time customizing my phone and generally living on it, so my old nokia will do just fine. Maybe if that becomes more streamlined and open and secure and easier to understand i will get one of these or have another browser, too. But until then noway. And apple is nice, but they bann apps like vlc media player from their store.Ok, right. Cannot have some lowprofile folks break into your market and take everything away. Yeah, i get it. Probably we as a humanity never will grow up. And that is why: Watch where you buy in.Personally i never would go without firefox+extensions.
