Updated Nexus Mod Manager yesterday - Now FO3 crashes every time I try to load it.

Yesterday I updated the Nexus Mod Manager. Before that FO3 loaded every time without problems. Immediatly after the upgrade and without doing anything else whatsoever FO3 now crashed immediatly everytime I try to load my saved game/s. I have gone through all the usuall processes of checking the ini files, clicking on/off mods etc etc, upgraded FOSE to the latest version but nothing works, still crashed every time. Anyone able to shed any light on this problem? Anyone else experiencing the same after upgrade? I only returned to FO3 last week after 4 years or so of not playing and was just starting to get right back into the game ,( way better than Vegas imo ), so I would really like to try and get this fixed before I delete the game again in frustration. Thanks.

I use FMM as well, still crashes. Have tried just about everything now apart from a full wipe/reinstall. If I go down this path at the weekend I will be uninstalling NMM as well and will not be using it again, more problems than its worth.

Ok, it seems to be a problem with Archive Invalidation. If I turn it off the game works, but of course a lot of my mods now do not. Turn it back on again, game crashes again. Why would this suddenly be happening when everything was fine before I upgraded NMM?

Just about the only thing I can think of is that Archive Invalidation changes bInvalidateOlderFiles from 0 to 1 in the ini's - and bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 can crash the game for some. The thing is that I think the game will crash on startup in that case. So the only thing that seems to explain it in your case is that one of your mods have a bugged mesh that the game tries to load with that save. When you turn off Archive Invalidation, it doesn't try to load that mesh. So I'd try to figure out which mod(s) you have that affect the cell the save tries to load - and then remove them and see if it works then.

Try temporarily moving your menus folder somewhere else, then enable Archive Invalidation again and try starting the game.

If that works I seem to recall exactly what inside the menus folder was recently figured out by someone 'round here, but I can't seem to find it atm. Could try reinstalling DarnUI, if you have it.
