clyngh
Hello Again, I responded to the advice given in my previous post RE: BOSS and tried to validate my game cache and install LOOT instead. LOOT seems to install fine (dropped it in the Skyrim folder), but for whatever reason won't start. Also I can't seem to get a good validation of my game cache. It always tells me that 1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired (I assume it is the EXE file). I don't actually see that file being reacquired, though maybe it happens too fast for me to recognize. To reiterate, I can start the game fine through SKSE, but not Steam. Any idea what might be wrong? Again, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
0varon
You mean file-validation through steam? And this failed? Are you admin and/or some files are read-only?I thought steam is required to start? You could delete the exe file or some related files and let them install again (steam). DoctorKaizeld
you dont need LOOT in the Skyrim folder. did it pick up skyrim when it was searching for games? did LOOT simply not run? if you did find Skyrim during the scan did it actually find the right folder? clyngh
Yeah... file validation through Steam. Not sure what you mean regarding admin. I don't start Steam using the Admin icon if that's what your asking. In any case, apparently there is a LOOT function in Skyrim MOD Organizer that seems to work so my LOOT problem seems to be fixed. The file validation/can't start through Steam issue is still weird, however. Thanks for replying.

clyngh
Hey qwerty, No... LOOT never actually did try to search for the game. I clicked the setup button, designated where I wanted to install the program, the files were extracted to the Skyrim folder. It than asked me if a wanted to run LOOT and then nothing, and when I try to run LOOT again it immediately closes. In any case, like a stated in the above response apparently Skyrim Mod Organizer comes with LOOT and it successfully reordered my mods, so I guess I don't need the separate LOOT program? Thanks for replying.

Thanks for replying. contact the LOOT devs and mention it to them. they'll be able to fix it or if it's an actual LOOT issue (as in you're not the only one, essentially) then they will look into fixing it on their end. have fun modding my friend. No, this is not a failure therefore not necessary. Install 'LOOT' in a subfolder of Modorganizer, but different from MO's 'loot' folder. Then you need to setup 'LOOT' in 'MO' as executable file like 'SKSE' or 'TES5Edit' or 'Wrye Bash'. Refer to MO's instructions. Start 'LOOT' from within 'MO'. Or you dowload the 'LOOT.api' and update/overwrite all files in MO's own 'loot' folder. This affects the plugin 'sort' button. Rabbit1251
Validating the game cache in Steam always results in one failed file. This is normal and may be ignored. Rabbit
