Crash on Level Up

Hello,

Ive had and been modding and fixing Oblivion since I got it in 2007, and have figured out a way around every single crash, performance issue, and conflict, but this one just stumps me.

Whenever Ievel up any character, using either the stock level system, or even Oblivion XP, the game will invariably crash. I have a large number of mods installed, here is an export of my load order:

My system specs are as follows:

Windows 7 64 bit

8GB RAM

ATI Radeon HD 5870 (Eyefinity 6 Edition, 2GB of graphics RAM), latest drivers

AMD Phenom II 945 3.0Ghz

Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H

Integrated Sound Device

DVD-ROM Drive (Duh)

Obviously, this is not a hardware problem. I can not seem to track it down to a particular mod, it seems to occur no matter what mods I turn off. I am also using weOCPS to stop some crashes. Also, Shivering Isles refuses to load at all, even though i can see the Shivering Isles bounty show up in game, that gate is nowhere to be found, I have even checked it with the Construction Set and it is not there. That may indicate something, but I am unsure. FInally, with DR6, i removed the terrible 1st person animations manually since I wanted all of the other benefits of the mod without having to deal with those. Again, beside the point, but could still be a factor.

I know, this is a long post, but any help is greatly appreciated!

Also, any way around leveling up by sleeping is acceptable, since I want my new character to join the dark brotherhood and mage's guild( I hit the level up point before I could do them).

Open your \Documents\My Games\Oblivion.ini and check this entry:

STrackLevelUpPath=\\vault\TES4\LevelData\

change it to:

I'm having the same problem as Gman... I tried this solution and it didn't work. I'm even having problems with shivering isles like gman. We're in the exact same predicament, and i really don't want re-install all my mods. I've been trying different solutions for weeks. I've tried many anti-crash mods, alone and together, I've tried going around sleeping altogether by using the consol command ~advlevel, and nothing seems to work.

These are the files we have in common.

I have many many more, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to copy and paste all of them.

My Specs are as follows:

Model: HP G56 Notebook PC

Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz 2.19GHz

RAM: 3.00GB

Windows 7: 64-bit

Any help with this would be wonderfull.

boom! found it! I Isolated and found the mod that was causing the trouble... try disabling DLCFrostcragSpire.esp

If by DLCFrostcragSpire.esp you actually mean DLCFrostcrag.esp then read on, if not I'm unsure what mod you're referring to.

Have you downloaded any mod that replaced the Official DLC, such as Frostcrag Spire Revisited or Reborn? If so, you should uninstall that mod and replace it with the Official DLC for testing purposes.

I seriously doubt the Official DLC is the cause of this issue or it would be a widespread problem, which clearly it isn't. If disabling DLCFrostcrag.esp did in fact rid you of the problem, and you never altered the Official DLC, then you likely have an underlying conflict from another mod with that specific DLC, which in itself seems odd. If disabling said ESP works for you, great, but the true problem cannot be the Official DLC.

It's not the DLC, trust me. I've got a solid number of mods too, each and every one installed correctly. I also have at least three different game saves, with three different characters and I have the exact same problem. Anytime the level up screen comes up and I choose the three skills, the game crashes. I do have a feeling a mod is affecting it because before I downloaded ANY mods I was casually playing and I could level up fine. I have no idea what the mod is that's corrupting the game, and I have no intention of going through my list to find it. I just want to say that it's not Frostcrag that's doing it!

Just as a suggestion, try removing OCPS. I used it for a while, and discovered that I was actually getting more crashes from it, than were prevented by it. Which isn't to say it's bad, just that reactions vary according to user. Given your issues, that's one solution worth considering.

I'm Having the same problem with Oblivion XP, only when I try to level up the goes into a CTD. I'm running TES4 Edit right now to see whats the problem. TES4 Edit is a mod cleaning and conflict finding tool. it allows you too go into the mods settings and files and then it lines all the conflicting mods (oblivion XP for example) and then you can choose to edit the conflicting line or used file for a different one to end the conflict. Be aware though that TES4 Edit warns you before you edit a line. I would recommend going through the conflict thoroughly and editing the load order before you try to edit anything.
