  1. 1. How would you rate your battery life on your android device?

The HTC Wildfire is my first smartphone, I've always been a phone is a phone talk n text type guy but had had my Sony Ericson K800i for about 4 - 5 years, so thought I'd give a smartphone a try.

To be honest, while I get along ok with the Wildfire, I wish I'd stuck with the old K800i and bought a netbook and an internet dongle, which I am infact going to do in a couple of weeks time.

I have an HTC Desire, and while I'll admit the battery life isn't great, it's not too bad either, depending on what I'm doing. When I'm doing something *really* intensive, like playing games with TigerGBA, the battery only lasts 2-3 hours. Under normal usage though (texts, solitaire, a bit of web browsing, the occasional phone call), it lasts around 3 days, which is acceptable. By all accounts it's better than the battery life of most Blackberries.

My old Nokia N95 (one of the first smartphones) lasted about a week though, which is something I miss.

HAHAHA I'm glad to see that I'm not the ONLY one who plays solitaire on my phone!

Yeah, playing games and such will drain a lot of phones really fast. Due to the amount of power that the newer screens can suck down.

Having the GPS or WiFi radio turned on will also do it too. Wifi on my Omnia wasn't "horrible" but its not something that I wanted to leave on full time if I didn't have my charger around.

The only thing that REALLY sucks my batt down on it is being at school, where we dont get a signal very well. It constantly looking for the network really drains me BAD.

From what I've read, yeah... I gotta agree that most of the " 'Droid " models don't hold a charge very well. Very large screens and not a big enough batt. I was really considering the Droid 2 for a while, despite that it was still by Motorola. But the slideout keyboard keys, I really didnt like trying to type on. That and the battery life on it was reported as being Really Bad.

I havent done any research on the Pro yet tho. So I'm afraid I dont have any REAL input on it :(

My oldschool flip dumbphone on the other hand can last nearly a week with minimal usage. THAT is getting me spoiled pretty bad, even tho its pretty much just a "talk" phone.

Meeeh I really have no use for a cell phone of any sort, to me its just a waste of money. But for browsing gps and 3g, i am for sure getting the NGP coming out this year http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif

Thanks Jim

Anyone know of a Flash enabled smart phone with a decent browser that ISN'T touchscreen keyboard? You would think after 2 years I would be used to it but honestly it is just more frustrating than anything.

Well the Bold 9780 I bought has a reasonable flash enabled browser, it's not as good as the Desire/iPhone but it's functional and a huge improvement on the thing that came with Blackberry OS 5. I do miss opening links with just a touch but the touchpad works well enough, I would go back to Android but I really have to have a smartphone that I know can go all day.
