boran
Hi,this is one of the first RPG that I play where the health of my character doesn't regenerate by itself.... thus forcing us to rest, heal or drink potions. Is there any way to have the health life bar auto regenerate, like mana bar (of course slower) ? Thanks,Boran
Guest Tessera
Our health does regenerate, it just does so very slowly (which makes perfect sense). The quickest way is to simply stop whatever it is that you're doing and wait for 1 hour. You'll be full health again afterwards. You don't need to actually rest... you can do this anywhere that you're allowed to wait.

Some bandit stabs you with his sword a million times and you are able to kill him just before he does the final blow. Then you wait ONE hour and you are completely fine. By waiting? By waiting an hour? So... Time heals all wounds? I think it's a little too easy to heal. In MW you actually had to sleep to restore health and magicka. You didn't need a bed for that though. But you couldn't do it in the middle of the city either.

The game goes on the assumption that your character spent that skipped hour patching themselves up with it.
boran
I checked, my character doesn't heal if I do nothing....
Rhydderch Hael
'Wait' in their context means using the Wait option ("T" key) instead of Rest.

I agree with ya, Povu... except to say that this is yet another example of the fact that Oblivion is not, was not and never will be "Morrowind II" I think the idea behind Oblivion is that it's as much an action game as it is an RPG. With that being the case, then the devs obviously wanted to keep the action quotient as high as possible. Allowing the player to quickly recuperate opens up many more possibilities for action-per-hour... so to speak. I agree that it's not very realistic, but then again... neither are unicorns. :P

Is there a way to remove the wait thing so you have to rest?

If anyone would know how to do that, then they would. Abramul is one guy who seems to know a lot about the nuts and bolts end of the game. The only thing I know how to do is character models. Abramul
I would say your best bet is to use a script. However, for whatever reason, there's not a default function that could be used to gradually restore health, and you also can't have fractional spell magnitudes. So, you have three options:1) use the OBSE function that does this OR2) Use a script that periodically adds and then removes a very low-power Restore Health spell, or alternately occasionally casts a similar no-duration spell on the player*.3) Use an ability with equal-magnitude Restore and Damage Health components, and weak (1%) Resist Magicka. This would need to be adjusted for some races. *I'm not sure if a script can make the player, or an object in the player's inventory, "invisibly" cast a spell on himself.
