Banishment Clarification

That's not what open source is either and if someone pulled that in an open source community, he'd be called out on it. Please do not make strawmen.

At no time did I ever imply that I wanted to upload someone else's mod and claim it as my own, here or elsewhere. At no time did I ever imply that such should be acceptable at all. All I've ever wanted to do is share, with people who ask me, the mods that I have collected, via methods convenient for me.

I believe I have my answer on that. It's allowable, so long as done privately.

I'm clarifying that for the entire community. This is something that seems to be something that quite a few users on here seem to be disillusioned about.

You just happened to be the one who posted the comment.

Depends on the open source and what license it's under. GPL apps can and do behave exactly as he said. It's one reason I don't like the GPL one bit. It's viral, and compromises your ability to maintain copyright on your work. It's also not the only such license out there that things like that can be done with.
