Need more info, particularly about your box and your game installation.

About the box: how much RAM, what make/model of video and sound cards, what OS and which service pack for the OS, and what utilities (other than sound or video) are running in your system tray? Don't really need to know the rest of your system specs, since you already verified that they meet the minimum requirements. I also won't ask about your drivers but rather just assume they are already up to date. But the rest of that info may help spot if you have a known incompatibility, and if so help find a workaround for it.

About the game installation: what version did you patch to, what is the full pathname to the main fallout3 folder, have you tried adding any mods yet, if so which one(s), have you installed any FO3 mod utilities (e.g. FOMM, BOSS, etc) and which edition of the game do you have (original, GOTY, Steam), do you have any DLCs installed, if so which one(s)?

I already anticipate that you will want to skip most of the info above and instead zoom in on those things that you think actually matter. I can only advise that you don't do that. More info = more help; also more info = less wasted time.

First, lets make sure your computer can play this game. Sometimes one single component will cause it to not work. Especially certain Video cards.

Using the computer you plan to play the game on

Go here to see if your computer can run the game

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/

You will find the various game we support

Oblivion listed as 'The Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion

Fallout3 as Fallout3 PC

Dragon Age listed as Dragon age

Fallout New Vegas as Fallout: New Vegas

Morrowind is not listed, However if you can run Oblivion at all it should run well on your system.

Note: TES V - Skyrim is not listed yet as no one knows what the final requirements will be yet.

After that we need what version. where you got the game - Retail DVD, Download version & from where (Steam, D2D, other)

Then what version of windows XP, Vista or Win7

And where the game is installed - default location or elsewhere.

AFAIK there is no minimum requirement for sound card, so we'll let that lie for now and revisit it later if needed. As for other programs running, I specified "in the system tray" and only just realized I should have explained that. With Windows a great many common utilities that we use will, by default, set themselves up to run in the background every time you load Windows. Some of these, like antivirus protection need to do so in order to perform their primary tasks, but many if not most of them do not. And the only way to make them stop doing it is to instruct them differently, i.e. configure them. The system tray is where most such programs can be seen: it is that area in the bottom right of your main Windows screen where the clock is (assuming you have not customized your desktop to move or hide the taskbar). You should see a set of mini-icons there next to the time readout. If you hover your mouse cursor over each one a popup tooltip should appear to tell you what program each of those icons is for. Just check each one out as you are replying to this, typing each of those names into your reply message. There is likely a volume control icon and virus utility - just ignore those and tell us the rest. I have a hunch that there are either way too many running, and/or one or more of them is interfering with Fallout3.

Another thing we need to know is how much free space there is on your hard drive. If you have more than one hard drive letter, e.g. a "C" drive and a "D" drive, tell us how much space is free on each one. If there is too little free space left on the drive where Windows is installed, then that could definitely cause problems.
