Should I up-grade to windows 10?

I don't know, I don't have 10. I know going from 7 to 8.1 I had issues with compatibility. I now run everything (for Fallout 3) as administrator, GECK, NMM, FO3 Edit and FOMM and every thing seems to be working fine. Not sure if that will help, but did for me.

call me crazy but I notice a 10fps increase in windows 10 both in FO3 and NV compared to windows 8.1

wich is why ANYONE should just go ahead and swich them old world windows to the new world Windows 10 :D

its remarkable fast compared to other windows editions, and i've posted a thread with a Win10 fix for Fallout 3 already should your's fail to launch after upgrade :)

Based on benchmark testing by several sites - there is very little performance gain if any in going from Win 8.1 to 10. Your game is not going to run any faster or with higher fps. As with any new OS, there will be bugs. There is no rush to change, your free upgrade is good for a year. Do it when it is convenient for you not in a big rush. I plant to wait a while to let the early adopters find the bugs. I did jump right into Win7 when it first came out and didn't regret it - there were very few bugs in it.

Thanks for all the replys, I did reserve my (free) copy of 10, so if I do upgrade I won't have to pay for it. Lot's of positive input so I'm sure I will, but think I will wait for a bit for the bugs (or aleast some of them) to get worked out. Again thanks for all thr responces. This site and all of you guy's/gal's rock.

1st->

he said he was running WinXP - that alone, is MORE than enough reason 2 upgrade to Win10.

2nd->

I've been running Win10 for 6 month's (Technical Preview) without ANY bigger issues - and no notable issues, it runs FAR better than any other windows edition, and as a side note- Win8 and Win8.1 is designed for tablets - they're missing loads of key background process' that's sorta nessesary for a regular computers normal runtime usage - that's why you dont get a very much higher benchmark result - but the all over performance of Win10 is (unquestionably) faster and smoother than older versions! perhaps you just havent been digging thru the system to spot the missing elements that make it use less system resources - and that way make it seem to run games better :)

Win10, upgrade, no questions asked in my opinion! :P

What BBEN said is right. No performance improvement in video games but a noticeable improvement in boot times. That's about the only reported performance increase i've seen mentioned.

i've seen them on my own pc, so im gonna trust my eyes still :P

and the boot time on Win8, Win8.1 and Win10 isnt much appart. but the content availible in 8 and 8.1 vs 10, are eons appart! (in windows 10' bennefit! hehe )

  • 2 weeks later...

Got it done, Downloaded and installed flawless, just like as if Windows has done this before. Had a little time to kill so thought I would try to play FO3. The first thing that poped up is we will now detect your graphics card (or something like that) which I thought was a bit strange. Your settings will be set to medium???? I play Skyrim at high!! So after going to DXDIAG my display was showing the on board chip and device manager showed my card, but with the "This thing ain't working" symbol (o; Reinstalled drivers for my card, and all is good now. If any body has a clue why I still have the "Not working " thing in my other devices I would love to here about it. I don't know how to do the FPS thing, but plays as good if not better then on 8.1 imo. Played for about 1 1/2 hours flawlessly. Tried FONV and Skyrim with same results, both played great.

Thanks again for the help and advice, I have said it before You Guy's/Gal's rock!!!

The coprocessor thingie in other devices is strange, do you have an intel or AMD processor? If it's an intel then try to install the latest intel drivers from their website, if that doesn't work you can try to right click on the coprocessor, select uninstall this device and then reboot, windows should detect it again and hopefully install it right this time.
