Firefox 4

Recommended Posts

I just got it this morning....any of you guys try it out yet?

Seems to run a little faster, but it uses a heck of a lot more RAM (135MB on mine with NoScript, AdBlock, Flagfox).

The layout...can't say I'm a huge fan of it. Looks way too much like IE. And I can't seem to find where I can have my bottom bar back instead of a stupid little pop up thinger to say what's loading. I really don't give a flying crap that I can "sync" with my other devices.....they think everyone owns a smartphone? Other than that, it's the only thing different I've found...other than the crappy layout.

I'll figure it out, might come to like it...but so far it's annoying.

Saw a screenshot of it and went NOPE. I'm already thoroughly content with my current setup. Unless exploits and whatnot start becoming an issue, I'll probably be ignoring FF 4 for a while.

I like having a visible menu bar...

I tried one of the betas a couple of months ago. It was fast, but still had a few problems so I had to drop back to v3.whatever. I will wait a few days to let them get the bugs out before trying it again.

Well I just reverted back to Firefox 3.6 because 4 just crashed my GPU TWICE trying to modify the toolbar.....so lame.

I'm avoiding it for awhile, might just ignore it all together if I can.

I have no issues with Firefox 4.

GPU crashes can be prevented if you turn off hardware acceleration in the Options. By the way, Eiries, you can have your menu bar, it's also configurable by right clicking on the title bar.

Panorama is a godsend, now I can group my Nexus tabs, and switch back to them at will. My fav addons -- Web Developer, RequestPolicy, AdBlock Plus, NoScript, HttpFox and IE Tab -- work just fine.

I've been using all betas and it's a lot more stable since the 9th. The release wasn't that much different from the latest ones and with some easy tweaking you can get all bars back :).

Firefox 4 is the first good version since Firebird.

Not good enough to get me away from Opera, but good enough to earn a permanent spot in my stable of browsers.
