Fallout 4 scepticism...

Obsidian didn't make any game mechanics, those were updates to the game engine by Bethesda. Bethesda gave them FO3 and the latest engine updates and they made FNV out of it.

They had Bethesda add what they wanted and the engine was forked for NV. It's nearly identical to Fallout 3 with some additions and improvements, as well as having things which are broken that were not in Fallout 3. New Vegas was made in a mere 18 months, and released almost exactly 2 years after Fallout 3. Most of those changes, if not all of all of them were removed in the Creation Engine, and are unlikely to return. What we already know about Fallout 4 (and Skyrim) backs this up completely.

IF they remained in the engine, I will be overjoyed and will begin to make the game work more like it's predecessors immediately.

i Just finished 13 hour straight session of Fallout 4. The graphics were decent to say the least, and i haven't had 1 single crash or CTD or Bug in the entire game so far...

Not saying that there is no room for improvement, because there definitely is... But like i said before, someone can change.. even Bethesda..;)

I've yet to play it. There are some bug reports but nothing terrific it seems, that's a good news. I gonna wait till mod tools finally arrive and chech how's game handling it.

Metacritic gave 4.7 userscore, which might seem unjustified, but at the same time I see TONS of complaints about this game in many-many gaming forums and boards across the world, though big magz giving it pretty high rating, which is strange to say the least...

Because big magz got payed for good reviews. Read what people are saying. Most popular opinion: game is great because... there are no bugs. Realy? No one is bothered by the fact that it's not RPG anymore? It's FPS with actualy good crafting system and Borderlands-like character progression.

Watching it is different then playing it. look up steam reviews.

If you like fo3 (not foNV it not the same), okay with the wheel, the voice and hardly any RP aspect then buy it. It has harder and more convenient gameplay than fo3. But it not hardcore immersion or survival.

Expect if you were ganked by six ghouls in a small space, then it a hardcore survival game.

I`m having fun since it came out, but I'm playing as the wife and Rping her and having less expectations. Since you not in a hurry. I saw wait a month for patches and a hud mod.

Oh, i can think of a few right now.. Giant domes can be placed, but something that goes, and fits below it, doesn't fit whatever you do.. Weird.

Naming a piece of Armor or a weapon that you crafted, If you type the first word in normal letters, and the rest is in capitols, you want to correct that, at east, i do. But if you change the last word in normal letters and hit enter, the first word changes, all by itself, to capitols... Also Weird.

Not really game-breaking bugs... but there are a few, which is to be expected from a new game this size. and i must say, having finished it now once.. without a single crash or a major bug...,i tip my hat to Bethesda.

But we could really use some body-mods.. animation mods.. and armor mods... to name a few obvious ones. The Player characters aren't really bad, but they become plastic dolls in the rain... and the females have no breasts, which is, i'm sorry to say, a long standing policy of both Bethesda and Bioware. all woman PC's must have small breast.. with the possible exception of Skyrim. Not asking for melons here.. but just, normal average sized breasts seems to elude them completely...

I've had a couple of annoying bugs. The first was buttons (like the tab) that stopped working, easily fixed by alt-tabing out and then back in to the game. That time my weapons and pipboy went invisible so I had to save and restart the game. The time the crosshairs and menu screens shifted 2-3 inches to the left and so the program had to be saved and restarted. Part of the area I was in turned so Low Res that my character sunk through it (Have had the Low Res one a couple of times now). Again had to save and restart program. Overall I would wait for some patches to come out if you have not bought it yet.

I've had none of these problems. So maybe its specific for the hardware you are using, and therefore no reason for anyone else to not play.

Just make sure you report them to Bethesda.. as anyone should with any bugs. and in a few months we might have our first Bug-free game from Bethesda..

Sounds almost as a contradiction in terms, i know...

I have quite the beast of a rig, with 16 gig Internal memory, a top of the line Vid-card ( Nvidia GTX 980 ti) And i get a smooth 60 fps.. not sure of V-sync or Shadow-play cuts it to that, but that's very likely. Never the less.. the game doesn't seem completely optimised... i get light stutters every few seconds, but i must say that it could be anything.. doesn't have to be the game that does that.However... I use Nvidia's optimal settings, so its unlikely to be the driver.

(Edit.. I switched off the Game-pad in game... Since i never use it anyway.. and gone where the stutters...)

Having said that, Fallout 4 is by all accounts very playable and smooth.. I haven't messed with the quality settings much, but a lot of the game's textures are low Rez, (look at dogmeats tail and you'll know what i mean) so setting textures to low of high doesn't make a lick of difference, i mean none what so ever. I figure that will apply to some other settings as well.. which you can use if you are tight on FPS....

Of course this will all change when the Modder tools arrive.. i figure. But then its a choice.. which is good.. choice is good.

I have now played 3 play-troughs.. (And i play from waking up to bedtime non stop.. which could take 2 days straight.. ) and i haven't had 1 single CTD, crash, or major bug... which is quite impressive for a Bethesda game.
