The warning is RIGHT THERE when you start version 0.60! Along with a bold red warning during the installation process.

Honestly, the people complaining about this seem to be trying to blame us for the fact they ignored two warnings (three if you count this news post), one in big bold red font, before just blindly clicking "OK" to every prompt.

Well if that worked then I apologize for the rant. What I remember was the prompt telling me that: "Yes - Uninstall my mods so the update works." "No - Don't uninstall my mods yet." When I hit No it looked like it was uninstalling my mods anyway. Clicking cancel just returned me to the same prompt.

At the moment I didn't think much of it and assumed I would be able to just as easily re-install everything. What makes the update give me errors on installing mods that worked just fine with the old version?

This is what the warning prompt when you enter 0.60 for the first time says:

This new version of NMM includes a major update to the way we store and install your mods which allows us to accommodate mod profiling (different profiles for different playthroughs of your game).

In order for it to work NMM needs to uninstall all your currently installed mods.

Choose option 'YES' if you would like NMM to attempt to try and reinstall all your currently installed mods using the new method. The migration procedure is a lengthy process and it could require several minutes or even hours depending on your PC speed and quantity and size of your currently installed mods. You may be required to interact with some scripted installers during the reinstall process.

Choose option 'NO' if you want NMM to uninstall all your mods and leave you to activate the ones you use again. (this doesn't delete your mods, it simply deactivates them)

Choose the 'CANCEL' option if you would like to cancel this setup and not proceed with this new version. You will not be upgraded to this version of NMM!

Not a big fan of this upgrade. After the update I chose cancel because i did not want to uninstall my mods, but then it just closes the program and you cant use it. So i figured i ether had to go with it or download the old version. I choose to upgrade, I figured it cant be to bad since they are forcing it on people, oh boy was i wrong. I choose the automatic installation of mods, let me just say that it does not work well. It seems to especially have problems with mods that have multiply patches/mods from same page, such as climates of tamriell. I also installed all mods from scratch two weeks ago, since nmm was telling me to uninstall my mods after upgrading to win10.

After its done running it seems to look fine in the nmm, however when you run loot, it will tell you that you misses allots of files that you had earlier (i had 100+ installed mods, now loot is telling me 90, with 37 warnings).

I guess its not much to do about this now, but I think the developers should learn from this, I think it should have taken an backup of the files you had, so it would be possible to go back if it crashed, or at least show a message that this might not work and that a backup is advised. Second I think they should not force things like this when they dont work (obviously). This should have been in beta development a bit longer. All in all you are doing a good job and I think everyone agree with that, I just think some of these problems could have been avoided, and it would had saved peoples hours of work.

Have you read this news post? It explains exactly why:

  Quote
Because this new version is a major change to the way NMM installs your mods it will require some interaction from you in order to get it working properly. The amount of interaction required will depend on how many mods you have installed, how many of those mods use scripted installers (the mods that have their own specialised installations where you can pick and choose what you want to install), and when you installed those mods that use scripted installers. If you installed any mods that use scripted installers after installing version 0.53.3 or higher (after February 23rd 2015) then you won't be asked to reinstall those mods again. However, if your setup is very old and uses a lot of scripted installers installed before February 23rd 2015 then you will be asked, one-by-one and in-turn, to install those mods again. Unfortunately, before this date, NMM was not coded to remember the exact settings you chose while using the scripted installers, so that's why you're prompted to reinstall them again.

I don't know if you're being serious and you're still blaming me for the fact you didn't read the warning that has the BIG RED FONT that everyone keeps asking for, which is already there, or whether that was a poorly timed joked? Edited by Dark0ne
