mando69 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 (edited) Is there any good armor mods out there? I was thinking of making a lore-friendly armor compilation. I love Immersive Armors but after playing with it for a long time I can't help but feel that mish-mashed vanillla armor pieces feels really messy and tangles my OCD dna a bit, besides that it can have a bit of a performance hit since its a few armor meshes and textures loaded in one so I kinda moved on with Immersive Armors. I've been scouring the nexus but the majority are bikini weaboo armors, mish-mashed armors and armors using witcher assets that just doesn't cut it in this time of skyrim modding(or maybe I've just been spoilt too much, anyway). The only lore-friendly mods that uses original assets iv'e seen are less than 10, then the rest are female only armors and some are unfinished. The only option it seems is to improve my modelling skills and make my own armor overhaul and replace all the weird looking vanilla armors and add new ones. Edited September 27, 2015 by mando69
Oubliette Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 You have that option yes. I suggest you take it.
crazytexan Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Make some mods with realistic full helmet and small visor

Pretty much. Unless it involves sexual fantasies or female anatomy/biology, waiting for someone else to make something is not desirable, or realistic. While there are some great armor mods out there already like you mentioned, if there's something in particular you want, then it's time to rev up the modeling programs and have at it. Almost a year ago I was in your shoes, but in a weeks time I'd figured out at least how to retexture and mix/match/import models (for nonuploaded private use). It can be brutally frustrating and feel like an impossibly steep learning curve at first, but if you stick with it, it can actually become a lot of fun in a weird, masochistic kind of way. Just remember, the great thing about being human is if we practice something enough times, we typically get pretty good at it.
Elricwolf Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Dude, you had me crying at "bikini weaboo armors". I was actually looking at some armor that caught my eye yesterday, only to realize they all came with mandatory 12" platform high heels. Not to dis anyone who likes that stuff, I do like me some old school JRPGs, but it was a little too Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy XII/XIII or whatever for my Skyrim game. Here's some decent "non-weeaboo" female armor - UNP Female Armors Hide Armor and Sleek Steel Plate Good luck finding decent Male armor. Lol

They have the one of the best armors and clothing collocations in video games that fits all tastes and builds. Expect smelter demon and havel set. Those are an eyesore. Still love them though.

I guess I'm too "filthy casual" or for Dark Souls these days. I don't have 8 hours a day to try to beat a boss anymore. Lmao
ironhead333 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I found some armors that I really liked in the Game of Thrones Armor Compilation. I like simple armors like this. The armors from the Witcher 2 are good too... there are some good armor mods out there but at least the ones I like I have had to look a little harder for..
