You mean this post right here?

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3263709-hello-nexus/page-9&do=findComment&comment=29138039

That was replied to directly here?

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3263709-hello-nexus/page-10&do=findComment&comment=29138364

Yes, that, thank you. I did a self-search and couldn't find it, so again, applause for finding it.

Now how about an apology to the Staff for having accused them of removing it?

CommunistTiger wrote: I hardly think that's necessary, because 1. This is the Internet, and I doubt anybody cares, and 2. if they did care they'd at least warn me a bit. It's not like I've drastically changed anybody's life by 'accusing them of deleting a comment', it's not like Dante's going to die or he has cancer now (keeping private thoughts private). Even if I did get a warning and was unable to post or upload files, as an old wise man once said, nothing is permanent (even forum bans). Did you know that out of the 9,789,499 members on this site, at least 2,000,000 of them are banned, or have left and are never coming back? Back to the main point, if an apology is necessary, I'd rather it be requested by the moderator himself rather than some Internet vigilante playing Forum Hero (no offence meant). I have (mostly) good intentions, and I don't want to have to go back too the Steam Crapshop to upload mods there because of incompetent users. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to shut up before I say something I will regret later (probably already have).
Hey Dante, if you really want me to apologize, I will, either here or in a PM even though I never actually stated which moderator might have deleted whichever comment.

Can I get a source for that figure, please?

Even if I take all the pages in the rules and warnings section, assume that all the posts on every page is a ban (which they aren't) the best I can come up with is 22,960. I do see quite a lot of users who don't post much but tend to assume that has more to do with people coming for the mods not the conversation.

The official figure in the "Banned" group is 33,422 accounts, of which a lot are duplicate accounts (people making more than one account having their duplicate accounts closed, no official figure on that one) and closed accounts (users who have requested the accounts be closed, 4,643 accounts), which both make up the total "banned" accounts figure along with the standard "banned" users. Keep it classy Nexus crew.

Don't be a jackhole.

Moderation is free to remind folks of the rules, since NO ONE READS THEM.

Honestly though I've mostly stopped commenting here because I'm afraid of the mod team. They seem to just want to make the site a huge hugbox where mod authors are free from criticism and I don't like that at all.

Edit: And the way the rules are worded is awful unless that's changed recently. They need to be simple and clear, not a bunch of blanket statements that cover moderators bad decisions. Edited by Velocerator

A place where people who work hard to share something with others for free, feel safe and appreciated instead of criticized? The horror

How do you get better at doing something without criticism? How do you even take feedback seriously if the site is a hugbox? If you don't want criticism then don't create a product for others to consume, whether it's free or not is irrelevant.

If criticism was posted in a polite and constructive manner, there wouldn't be any issues, but what we tend to see (and act upon) is anything but.

A useful and insightful criticism post, that contains facts and useful information is one of the best things an author can recieve from users of their mod. If it leads to helping them improve their work, then there is no issue at all.

Spammy remarks, insults, attacks and threats are not constructive. Saying "this sucks" doesn't help anyone. Neither does "your mod is terrible, you should kill yourself for making such a bad mod". Yes, I've seen both statements, and ones of similar nature quite often. There is no need for that sort of immature nonsense. We're not try to block out all criticism - just attempting to make sure that any posted is actually useful to the mod authors. There's no need to attack a mod if you don't like it, or find a fault with it.

Don't like it? Move on in silence.

Find a fault? Let the author know in a clear polite manner.

Suggesting something? Same as above, offer the idea in a mature and clear way.

If the author doesn't respond how you expect, then that's their perogative - thank them for their time and move on, if they are rude - report it. They don't reply at all? Fine, drop the matter there and find something else to use/play. There's no need to get drawn into any conflict yourself.

If people stopped being so agressive and argumentative (and at times downright childish) with each other, and thought things out more before posting you'd hardly know the staff were here.

Little civility is all that's being asked for.

Any particular part you wish to focus on? If so, then I recommend writing up your queries or disagreements and sending them off to our community manager so he can look into the situation.

Practice. Practice is the actual real world example of how someone gets better at any skill, by applying that skill over and over again. That's how babies learn to walk, by getting up and trying over and over again - not by someone else constantly telling them how they're doing it wrong. Critique can be a useful tool to assist in that practice, when it is productive.
