Now the game is out is anyone playing it?

I got it today and from the hour or so I've played it looks quite promising. It looks like they've mixed elements of RPG (i.e. inventory, reputation building, trading) with conventional FPS which is quite cool.

To be honest I never really followed this game so it's nice to be surprised. Think the first I heard of it was from Daerk (*spits*) back with MEMod.

The game is good, no doubt. Problem is, they have removed almost everything they promised. There aren't any usable vehicles in the game, and they removed the "Blowouts". Think of it as a spiritual sequel to Boiling Point: Road to Hell, just 2x better graphics, and without vehicles. Of course, then we have mutants, anomalies, stalkers, gigantic spaghetti monsters etc.

Yes; it's far less linear than HL2 and requires a bit more forethought when entering a fight -- guns have a range limit and and similarly more inaccurate the further from the enemy you are. I'd simply say it's a tad more complex than HL2.

There are different ways to complete the game. About 6-7 endings if I remember correctly. It all depends on certain factors, like the amount of money, how many missions you completed etc. All in all, a very nice game, with a very interesting story... if you manage to do it right, though, and try to avoid as many bugs as possible.

I was entertained for four days, improved my sniping skills and so on, and ran into a bug that wouldnt let the main quest advance.

When the only advice (after a sunday's worth of searching and reading forums and so on) turned out to be 'reload a previous save game and see if it happens again' I unistalled and gave the disks back to my brother.

Fun while it lasted though, but found the "Defend the camp" missions arbitrarily added to the PDA irritating.
