Who really role plays anyway?

The latest incarnation of Cassie-the-Assassin was waiting and waiting for the perfect blood-ticket that would get her an invitation into the Sithis Fan Club. Would she immasculate Jorundr in retaliation to his jailhouse soiree, or perhaps paint a chapel's walls with the blood of a Primate? How about the challenge of infiltrating Castle Bravil and laying out the Count's son?

In the end, she chose none of the above. Why? Role-playing. She wasn't even planning on cashing in the bloodied ticket at the time, but she advanced far enough in the Main Quest to come upon Gwinas, the Wood Elf who bought the Commentaries Vol. 3 from the Imperial City bookstore.

She thought it through: she is a Blade— a secret agent for the Empire. There's no way she's going to tip her hand to the Mythic Dawn by revealing her identity or intentions to a guy who wanted to join the cult. No matter that the guy would have been horrified had he learned the truth about the Mythic Dawn— Cassie isn't supposed to know that (actually, being named 'Casandra', that is precisely what she was supposed to know, but I digress).

All she knows is this guy wants in on the cult, and there's nothing that would stop the fellow from tipping off the Mythic Dawn about her intentions to seek out their shrine. Well, there is one thing that'll stop him, and it did: a poisoned enchanted dagger buried in the back as he lay sleeping in his room.

So, Cassie gave up the pleasure of finding a real satisfying blood-ticket to the DB, all on the grace that, storywise as a role-playing character, it'd make sense (in her half-insane sort of way) for her to waste this particular sucka.

roleplay hmm YEAAAAAAAAAA

i love roleplaying i downloaded a pirate mod on this site not long ago it owns u actually can buy a ship and be captain hire crew and to bad u can't steer but u can do fights at seas against merchant ships ( not with cannons :( ) also u can meet the navy they got better gear :P

and i do normal RP to ofc :) soon going to get the sleep and eat mod :o

well u asked for a story now i give you 2 :P

story 1:

kinda funny story tough it was for me anyway

it al started when a cousin came to my house i started oblvion on my computer. he was looking how i explored mines, caves, forts and ayleid ruins well when we reached a ayleid ruin ( it was one with many stuff where u need to stand on to open a gate ) well when i was running and standed still to look around i didn't realise that i was standing on a thing to open something. i didn't hear the sound cause i didn't had sound yet :P well my cousin had a necklace around his neck to his chin while i was turning around and when i did hahaha 2 wolves attacked me ( jumped) and my cousin almost jumped of the chair haha and he pulled his necklace in half ^^ so far for story 1 :P

story 2:

this is what i did when i got bored :)

i took some light armor ( glass ) and went deer hunting and if i was lucky lions or bears or wolves after i shot like 15 animals and tossed them of a hill ( pretty cool seeing them tumbling and breaking almost everthing and smashing agains rocks ) i reached a ayleid ruin i decided to go in cause i never was been there before when i went in i started exploring and i had a bad lighting spell :s when i reached a thing that looked like a trap i swear i tought i saw a human pulling a lever on the wall and raising the thing i was standing on and getting me up leaving me no choice of leaving the ruin. to me it was creepy seeing someone standing in a fog and then pulling a lever and suddenly raising no chance to leave ( it's like the dialogue thing that u can't do anything ) + i had no sound :s i never went back to that ruin again

I play OB some time now, and I like roleplaying. I'm somekind of a knight. A powerguide. To do so I accepted the knight of the white stalion quest. So i began "living the life" of a defender and knight(raids on oblivion gates, on mines with monsters). I made my characters main quest in "life" is to eradicate the evil outh of cyrodiil(wath i think is naive, but my character is an idealist.) Once I charged into a gate with only my sword. I eluded death. I left the gate WITH ONLY 2 HP!!! Man I have luck o_O .

When Cassie nabbed the Xarxes from the Dagon Shrine, she forsook her enchanted Blades armor and risked brown bears and ogres on her path from Arrius to Bruma wearing nothing but the Mythic Dawn Robe and Hood.

Mind you, she didn't actually infiltrate the cult (I wanted the best chance to save the prisoner, so for the first time ever I had Cassie wade in with all guns blazing)— but Cassie simply wanted to show up at Cloud Ruler Temple so-adorned and mess with everybody's heads.

The actions observed onscreen by any third-party viewer wouldn't have seen much, but in my mind's eye the sentries on the ramparts shouted a warning to the garrison, and a dozen alert eyes turned south at this sinster figure running up the trail. Imagine the looks of surprise, then relief as the hood gave way to reveal Cassie's face to the other Blades, then the wry look on Jauffre's face as he walked up to our darling little trickster in her bloodied red robe.

Don't let the limitations of the game engine keep you from exploring the deeper nuances of the story— use your own imagination.

You complete the story— not through digesting the elements that are actually there, but by filling in the blanks yourself. That is role-playing.

I walk.....I walk....every...where...i go.

I reeeally try to refrain from getting in a hurry. When i first got the game it was "beat the game, beat the game", so i did and i found myself left with something to desire.

sooo i started making oddball characters and depending HEAVILY on mods. especially companion/share mods.

i would go to the tavern at dusk and "Actors In Charge" drink heavily and listen to gossip till around 11 or 12 PM. Then i would forward walk as a fire atronach all the way to my pad cause that was the closest drunken walk animation i could find. My companions did likewise. I RP'd a traveling prostitute with that mod and the portable campsite as well....call me sick i made a ton of money :P.

I profile goals in the game. Any newb mage char. would NATURALLY be IN the arcane university before say.....finding a strange door on an island in Niben Bay. I use mods and console to make it real for me.

Like the force mod where you can pick up some bodies. Pick up a goblin body and use it to block arrows as you advance on your enemy. Make a ranger and the only way you make money is hides and alchemy, fun fun. Really though its true, if you really try to roleplay, certain things will definitely let you down (I tried an Martial Artist, but hand to hand animations make me cry). Dont cheat! Never Cheat. But renaming your horse,"taking care of" a corpse or w/e,is within the RP bounds. Honestly, if you make a Samurai....do you think he leaves that prison dungeon without a mastery in blades?....how the he!! did he get to be a samurai otherwise? phh. makes sense to me

/end ranting n raving

Selective amnesia. The guards caught you trying to dig your way out of the prison cell, whapped you on the head really hard and dragged your unconscious butt into another section of the prison. You wake up remembering your name, birthday and vocation, but cannot quite seem to recall exactly how well you did your old job.

Worst of all, some Dark Elf schmuck in the cell across the way is telling you how you're going to die.

At least he gets what is coming to him (won't say more or SPOILERS)

I usally roleplay theves/assassins. so insted of just picking a random house and breaking in that instant, I watch it for a couple of days wait till I know that they're out/in before breaking in and stealing everything/killing everyone.

Me, being the master thief I am, need not worry about owners. I can successfully sneak my way past anything...as long as I have my custom-made chameleon spell :P
